Rex Ambassador razor
Feather blade
Phoenix Artisan Accoutrements Star Wisp synthetic brush
PAA's Tube 2.0 pre-shave
Rex 1988 shaving soap
Rex 1988 aftershave splash
Phoenix Artisan Accoutrements Mysterium Serum

I can see now that, as time goes by, my shaving ritual has gotten far more elaborate than it was when I was using a Mach 3 with a single pass. It's nice to have a few different options to keep things interesting. Cheers!

I recently received this new REX Supply Co, Envoy safety razor, featuring the polished stainless steel finish. Wow, is this thing absolutely gorgeous! I spent a good bit of time just admiring it, and appreciating the feel/weight in my hand. I enjoyed my very first shave with it yesterday, and another one today! A little more aggressive than what I'm used too, with a late 1940s vintage Gillette Tech being my current daily driver, but I can tell once I refine my shaving technique a bit to account for the new razor geometry I'm really going to love it! I pushed too hard in a few spots the first time, but still have an excellent close shave. I was using a Feather blade as well, which isn't very forgiving to improper technique.

The hole in the bottom for the stand, with that polished chamfered opening, reminds me very much of a WWII era spy pist0l that I saw in a history book, which was disguised to look like a normal safety razor. It fired a single round of 22lr out the bottom of the handle, from a similar looking barrel opening. Now, I feel like James Bond when I reach for my REX Envoy!

Henson AL-13 mild
Astra blade
PAA Tube 2.0 pre-shave
Caswell Massey badger brush
Thor's Hammer bay rum shaving soap
Thor's Hammer aftershave splash
PAA Mysterium Serum postshave

A very nice shave. The AL-13 even looks a little like Mjolnir!

I do a wet shave. For years I used a cheapo shaving cream that I bought on vacation once in Australia and became hooked on the smell (my wife loved it too), the brand was Faulding's and it cost something like $2.00 (Australian) per tube. So every few years I'd order a dozen tubes.

Since retiring part time in France I have started to use a shaving soap made by Martin de Candre and I love the smell of it and the thick lather it makes (they make a couple of scents). Here in the US I have a synthetic bristle shaving brush and in France I have a natural boar bristle brush. I like the feel of the boar bristle on my face more, but the synthetic brush makes a richer foam so I don't have a strong opinion about which is better.

My preferred razor is the Merkur 39C a slant-cut design (I have coarse and thick hair) and long handle. I have tried a few different blades over the years and now just stick with Astra Platinum blades, they're plenty sharp and I don't seem to cut myself as often as I did with the other-worldly-sharp Feather blades.

Been using straight razors for a while, but since my job requires me to wake up quite early in the morning I just use a vintage 1960’s Gillette Superspeed and canned Barbesol since I don’t have that much time to deal with possible accidents. Still use a variety of classic aftershaves though, anything from basic bay rum, to Old Spice, Skin Bracer, Brut, and several of the Pinaud/ Clubman line.
