Summer's Epilogue

Ryan is back at school this morning, and as I sit here in my office composing this post, with my Montecristi on my desk, I reminisce about the splendid Summer and its many adventures that are now behind us.

A few photos from this past, Labor Day weekend:

Felt weather is in the air. I picked up this interesting '40s Campbell DeLuxe, New York, in a beautiful shade of blue-grey, early Saturday morning, for $10. Cleaner/hatter's ticket and name tag still stapled to the sweatband.

Enjoying the spectacular weather and the Minnesota State Fair with 226,863 fellow fair goers later in the morning. OPTIMO Montecristi.

Just a hat in the crowd.

Lady in Panama.

Did I mention that we love our fair food? Big Fat Bacon.

Campbell DeLuxe Sunday morning. Will need a proper steam and brush before wearing in earnest.

We celebrated the beginning of Summer on the patio of W.A. Frost, and so we bid Summer farewell there with Sunday brunch. Gent wearing a Bailey Panama.

Me, still in my Montecristi.

Another patron savoring the gorgeous weather and delicious food. Unknown straw and weave but quite beautiful.

It must have been like this back in the old days...

Hitting the antique shops again in the early afternoon. Saddened to see the decline of the antiques business in Hastings, Minnesota.

Dome of Hastings City Hall, originally the Dakota County Courthouse.

We leave Hastings empty handed, but with some memorable images.

Moving on to one of our favorite antiques destinations later in the afternoon, before going to the cinema to catch up on the Summer blockbusters. Striking old fedora from Huesmann Hatters in Minneapolis, circa 1940s.

Love the crease the original owner left.

Rooftop brunch Monday morning in Uptown, Minneapolis. Stellas Fish Cafe. Same hat.

Wearing the Moonstone Fed IV today. Will be trying on a Stetson Playboy in about a week, so this one might end up in the closet with a couple of Dobbs awaiting replacement sweats...

monk, sharp Hat looks good on you!

Robert, beautiful Adam with wonderful shape! I like it!

Joao, nice shots on the beach, looks like you are the only one with a hat!
But doesn't matter, you rock it with the cool Western hats!

Joao is doing very well in those big hats. That is how they're supposed to look. Alan's got a bodacious wide brim that should draw some attention. When I wear the wide-brims, I feel like it's a projection of confidence, that I may not otherwise have.
