Hey folks!
Another item of great beauty and wonder out of the package from Stefan yesterday. This navy (or is it more of a midnight?) blue Rockel Homburg.

OK, so there were only two objects of great beauty and wonder in the box. But, there were two of these cool supermarket bags that make me look exotic and well-travelled (or even slightly travelled) when I pull them out to bag my groceries and thrift store finds!:)

View attachment 105709 View attachment 105710 Wake up Wagon Tuesday at school today. Every 2 weeks our Special Ed dept serves coffee to our staff. Our kids with Special Needs do all the work. Making coffee, applying cream and sugar, serving rolls and buns. Kids love it and it is teaching them some life skills in the process, handling money, handling hot beverages, handling food safely. Some of the kids were not allowed in the kitchen at home when hot food and drinks were being prepared. That's starting to change!:)
Oh, and a Moonstone FED IV for your viewing pleasure.
That’s a great hat but your Tuesday program at school steals the show. Well done sir! It’s teachers like you and programs like this that make a wonderful difference in our young people’s lives. Thank you.

Did a little errand running today by bus and foot. Took the Swedish fur hat along.

A most comfortable outing. Now a bit more snow shoveling.

Love it when you go all Redhead on us...very warm look Michael.

Thanks 65. They don't seem to be overly common and they are a good winter choice.
Great looking back bow Red. You can feel free to send some of that quasi spring weather this way. And if you could get it here before I have to go sweep the 6" or so of snow off my car it would be good.
Michael
Thanks, if only I could. Seeing the winter you guys are going through is humbling. Our winter has just been totally weird.

Very nice, classic lines.

View attachment 105708 I figured that I’d post a “retirement” picture for my first hat. Yeah, it’s wool and it was cheap, but it’s been a real trooper in the rain and snow and sun on cold days.
May is rest in peace, next to a fine beaver felt fedora.

That is a very wonderful program you have for these kids. Nice Akubra too boot.

This is one classy hat Greg. Almost makes me want to try a nice western.

Indeed, great looking Rockel John. The color is super, a tone that is missing from my homburg stable.

Good man! That has to be fulfilling, positively influencing our future. Looking good in the Fed while doing it, too!

Looks good. Why retire it when you can just work it into your rotation? I'm not alone in thinking that wool hats have their place.

Oh I’m sure I’ll still wear it, but I’m hoping that I enjoy my Fed IV so much that I won’t want to take it off, haha.
Don’t get me wrong, there are some wool hats that look really nice that I do want to get from a couple of websites. I’d like to start a hat collection and budgetary restraints have decided that most of my collection will be wool, which is absolutely fine.

Thanks Red. I was nice and warm today. It's been an up and down winter for sure.

Looks greaf all around, but I really like the bag! What is it?
Thanks Moe. Can't tell you much about the bag. I picked it up at a thrift sans shoulder strap. The only ID it has is what looks like a stamp pad inked stamp that says Real Leather Handmade in Greece. I stole the strap off of one of my old messenger bags and gave the bag a good treatment with my homemade dubbin. Worked out well I think. I'm keeping my eyes open for a better chunk of leather to make a better strap with.

Thanks all,
Michael

Always love to find cool things like that thrifting. Good luck on the leather search.
