Hi Alan,

It's not Courtney Love, that's for sure. The hat was made by Courtney Hats, it's a Royalten quality whatever that means. It was sold By Harry Levinson Hatters in Indianapolis. It has Stratoliner on the sweatband.
Nice WAR? Tom, and that whiskey looks sharp John.

The Miller is very light and flexible (as compared to Akubras and any western hat I've handled). About as flexible as the VS dress weight felt. It's not as nice as the Winchester beaver felt obviously but is still a nice light hat. I'm not as big of a fan of the crown to brim ratio as this hat has a lower crown with a wider brim similar to an Australian outback hat. I'd prefer a taller crown but it's still a very nice hat as is.

Good morning all. The warm winter morning finds me putting Holiday decorations away into storage. Our fine 32'F weather makes this task warm and comfortable. I have worn my VS sage colored fedora this morning.

I wore a Barbisio "Lago Di Como"... another Tyrol inspired Italian with narrow brim and tall crown. The thin ribbon is spot welded every 1.25 inches on this one. An intriguing hat, courtesy of RLK.

Hey fellas, thanks for all the nice words. My niece has grown into a terrific young lady, and I had a great time catching up with her last night. For the record, I have lost 50 lbs. and feel wonderful for it. I'll work on the new avatar, Alan.

New acquisition...anyone familiar with "Thoroughbred Hats"?

Was browsing ebay last week and came across a Thoroughbred Open Road styled hat that caught my eye. I had never heard of the brand and there doesn't appear to be much info on TFL and elsewhere on the web. It was a new listing with one bid and a buy it now price, normally I would have just thrown a bid in but something about this hat hooked me and I decided to bite the ****** and purchased it for a buck and a quarter...so it just arrived and I'm thrilled...much better than the ebay listing showed it. According to the owner, his uncle purchased it new in the early sixties and then gave it to him new, he never wore it because it was too small so it stayed in the original box till now. I can verify that the hat looks brand new. The color is unique...sort of a very dark olive drab, so dark it comes off as a warm dark charcoal at first glance. The lining is a beautiful gold/bronze and the sweat band is perfect and showing no signs of age...tonight it gets a wipedown with Lexol!
The sweat band is gold foiled stamped "One Hundred Percent Pure Beaver Fur" and I must admit the density of the felt confirms this, also stamped is "Wiseman's Johnson City Tenn". The hat has a 2.75" brim and 5" crown with an OR blocking...the block is very firm and can not be undone easily by hand(not that I want to change it). I would really appreciate any opinions and background on the hat that members can post.
