Not so easy to find... I title the photos for this thread by date - there are quite a few. I think this 2 year old shot is of the same hat though from a lower camera angle than I would normally share (it could also be one of my Stratoliners):

Nah, you don't want to do that, you look just as sharp without one, and it's less constricting.

Great hats from everyone today guys.
Orangegrad you look fine in those caps. If anything you just need to wear 'em a lot more. Like a leather jacket, the more you wear them the more they will relax and conform to you. I have a capas and a b-wear myself. Over time they start to sag and drape and get just right for your head. I spent a winter in Ukraine with only a black b-wear cap, and after months of being rained and/or snowed on daily it took on a completey different shape from when it was new. I think I've posted pics before. I also happen to live down here in Alabama where being drenched in sweat is a way of life, and that too will add plenty of character to a cap.

Here are some pics of my new capas cap, it's a full 11 inches in diameter I've only had it a couple of weeks, but its already been in the rain, and with todays high expected to hit the low 80s, it's getting a pretty fair soaking from the inside out right now.
I also usually let my beard grow during the colder months, and ,yes, I think it looks a little better with caps.

I suspect wearing caps is as much attitude as it is finding the right cap(s). Anyway, I'm going to wear my Capas 8 panel tomorrow and see how I like it.

Alan, I noticed that brim style on the video of your very interesting lecture - on the mink(?) Stratoliner. It looks a bit like the old adds for the OR, and yet not. I really like the very slight upturn and the pointy (couldn't find a better word) front. I have noticed, that you use that style on a lot of hats, and it suits your face darned well.

I have tried "The Friedman Style" on a couple of my own, and it looks just great. Tends to give the hat an early 20s/30s look. A real fine alternative to the snap

working the Akubra Fed again from a couple of days ago. the more research I do, it may be a original Federation or a Fed II, according to Hats Direct they came with a standard (dimensional) brim from the factory, and the bow work implies it's not a Fed III,

I am wearing a Stratoliner in that video (thank you!) and I do wear many of my thin ribbon dress western hats in that way. I like the look, but mostly I enjoy having the brim out of my face. It's hard enough to keep eyebrows out of my field of view (a problem that grows rapidly with advanced age) - I prefer to keep the hat brim out of the equation. At least most of the time.



Looked for a bushy eyebrowed emoticon but couldn't find one.

They didn't have the one you suggested in my size. This one looks very similar, just a slightly different color. If I look half as good as you do in yours, I'll be a happy camper. Thanks for the tip (which I should have paid attention to earlier).

That's a nice one! It has a little less material, (10 1/2 inches wide as opposed to 11 inches), but I think you're going to really like it. It has an extended bill / visor with a vintage shape. I think you'll see the difference in this one. Be sure to post some pics when you get it. The City Sport will look a lot better on you.

Haha ... I was actually thinking that the upturn revealed more of your brows, adding so much character to your face. Tell me about the age-thing! I have a very big and thick hair. One, that is ... and in the middle of my left brow! Be happy for yours - they look great

Indeed! It's a brim shape I've shamelessly appropriated from Alan. Or attempted to anyway, Alan has more panache than I.

I'm weighing in a little bit late, as that last post was at 1 AM, but Andy they look really good on you. I do prefer the Capas, and I really like the one you ordered. One thing I was going to recommend is to get a cap with a snap fastener or a single stitch at the the center of the brim. The cap crown comes to a little focal point this way, and somehow visually compensates for width. Just a thought. Looking forward to seeing your new one on!

Dale, is that really 11" circumference?? It looks quite narrow! Or is that just the way it's pulled down? Nice one, in any case, I love the colors.
