Size 44 Café Racer. This was an experiment, as my actual size (a 40) was just too tight. A size 42 was better, but I wanted one I could wear in a relaxed fit. The shoulder is bunching mainly because it's new and also because it's breaking in and a bit big, but also because I'm typing this post. If I'm standing, it's a perfect fit when zipped; for me, Café Racers are the only Aero fit where I seem to be a technical (imaginary) 'size 43'. This size lets me eat more pizza, which is good, because I make it. And bad, because of 1930s sizing, etc. Before anyone suggests it, there is no: 'Make a low-carb pizza, James,' option. Ain't gonna happen.

Is that a new one? Beautiful leather and fit!
Yes, it's new and just fresh out of the box.

Looks great! Exactly the jacket I will be getting from Greg in Navy shinki sometime next year.

Are you happy with it? I can't tell from your face ;)
Standard photo face ;)
Yes, very happy. It turned out exactly as I imagined it. Perfect for me.
But since I've only worn it at home for one hour so far, I can't say anything more specific yet, of course. The leather is still squeaking, but I know from my black Badalassi that this is getting less.

This is a Café Racer I've had since 2019. It was given to a colleague, but he reckons that it's too heavy for him to need here and left it over the back of an office chair for three months. I've told him that I'm reconditioning it and storing it for him, but my hope is that he'll forget all about it and I will have stolen it back through subterfuge. It ain't rotting on the back of a chair, though. I wore it a bit (just a bit) in the last few years in Shanghai chemical rain, Hong Kong drywall monsoons/typhoons and quite harsh sun, and it's been walloped the hell out of in a washing machine two or three times when it got covered in various kinds of drywall dust and charcoal/smoke. The original battered seal HH was bashed up enough, and now, after its years of getting kicked in, it looks like this. My only issue with the battered hides is that they're a bit waxy to the hand, but the wear and tear is amazing:

I think this might qualify as over-smashed up. I am actually surprised that high-stress areas of stitching didn't break and that the hide still seems (although faded) to be undamaged. At one point it was accruing some serious, almost construction-site dusting and I think some of it got ingrained. Not sure if the three 15-min cold wash-cycles helped anything much apart from getting the charcoal, dust, etc., out. It looked fairly post-apocalyptic and I gave it a quick wipe down with some Renapur. Very happy with the result:
