That was a few years ago. There have been many other last ones since.

Yes, very happy. It turned out exactly as I imagined it. Perfect for me.
But since I've only worn it at home for one hour so far, I can't say anything more specific yet, of course. The leather is still squeaking, but I know from my black Badalassi that this is getting less.

This is a Café Racer I've had since 2019. It was given to a colleague, but he reckons that it's too heavy for him to need here and left it over the back of an office chair for three months. I've told him that I'm reconditioning it and storing it for him, but my hope is that he'll forget all about it and I will have stolen it back through subterfuge. It ain't rotting on the back of a chair, though. I wore it a bit (just a bit) in the last few years in Shanghai chemical rain, Hong Kong drywall monsoons/typhoons and quite harsh sun, and it's been walloped the hell out of in a washing machine two or three times when it got covered in various kinds of drywall dust and charcoal/smoke. The original battered seal HH was bashed up enough, and now, after its years of getting kicked in, it looks like this. My only issue with the battered hides is that they're a bit waxy to the hand, but the wear and tear is amazing:

I think this might qualify as over-smashed up. I am actually surprised that high-stress areas of stitching didn't break and that the hide still seems (although faded) to be undamaged. At one point it was accruing some serious, almost construction-site dusting and I think some of it got ingrained. Not sure if the three 15-min cold wash-cycles helped anything much apart from getting the charcoal, dust, etc., out. It looked fairly post-apocalyptic and I gave it a quick wipe down with some Renapur. Very happy with the result:

Got this great early 50s Windward horsehide jacket from @tmitchell59
