That is the best jacket on the FL, IMHO.

A 1947 Sportclad. I found these pics while searching my files. The nicest leather I have ever encountered on a vintage jacket for sure, as nice as any new leather I have owned. Very much like Shinki.

This was purchased from the nephew of the original owner who bought it and never wore it. Size 46 tag in pocket.

Here is a thread I did on this guy.

Oh, man, that is just the perfect fit. Wait for a couple of weeks. The grains will give the jacket more pliability—it will be like a Victorian hand-made curtain draped on your body, worn as a superhero cape. Also, I’m already starting to see a little tea-core action at the bends. With time, this will be a beautiful jacket. The maker—FourSpeeds Leathers—knows how to do Horsehide. Congrats! Can’t wait to see your evolution picture of the Iron Heart cafe.

Beautiful jacket, Terry. Very interesting coin pocket placement, and upon close inspection of the photos, I see stitching detail around that pocket as well as the adjacent zip pocket. Nice feature!

When you say the leather resembles shinki, what are you referring to, exactly?

Just amazing, museum price. Do you think the thread is cotton or poly-cotton/nylon blend? The jacket must have been stored carefully too.

Great looking jacket and the fit is spot on!
Do you know the leather type and how about the thickness?

    Thanks @Kalmer.
I’m not sure what leather Langlitz used in 1985 but i’d guess Steer. As far as thickness idk but can say it weighs 7lbs.
    Hope that helps.

Terry the Sportclad is outstanding and pristine. That back panel is amazing and when blown up unbelievable.
    Love seeing this one.
