This guy just came out of the Box. Did not expect a fit on this one. Pleasantly surprised with the fit. No leather tag. Beautiful leather. since no tag, I will call it Steerhide. I have owned two others in this style. One was a Buco, proudly worn my a member here. The other was a Ralph Edwards. This style just works for me. very comfortable.

Had that one in my list...you got a great deal on that Terry. Fit looks spot on. That's the Minnesota maker yes?

Came from Minnesota Sports shop made by Butwin. I don't know anything about Butwin other than well known Varsity jacket maker.

I feel like a Pirate. It was a good deal. I knew it was nice condition from the photos. The size is a plus for me in some ways other ways not so. Makes them harder to sell when they fit!

I've seen a few Butwin PJ-27 jackets over the years. They always look nice. Hide looks spectacular and the button cuffs are a nice touch. Are there storm cuffs inside them? I can't recall the liner either, quilted?

Nice black Quilt lining. light lining in the sleeves. The cuffs are Sweet! Every bit as good as anything else I've owned, including the Buco. I actually think this one is nicer. The Buco was Steer. The Butwin is much more dense leather, could be HH.

Simmons Bilt Statesman black Clayton hh
Perfect fit and the Statesman jacket looks much better on you then on their website! I also like the contrast stitching but haven't heard much of their Clayton HH they offer...anyway beautiful jacket!

Clayton is my new favorite horsehide! (At least for a while it is). Best way to describe it is to say that in terms of look and feel it sits somewhere between Aero’s Vicenza and Horween FQHH. Its stiffer and thicker and than Vicenza, it has the shiny finish of the CXL FQHH, but its more pliable and lighter than it and brakes in easier. Great hide all in all!

As a bonus I really dig the statesman pattern!

Here’s a few extra pics of the jacket:
