Interesting how tastes in appearance morph over time and how (to my eye) this much less flashy version is both understated and very sharp. Sort of an example in leather of how less can be more. Very nicely done.

Thank you Sir,
You have a point :
I like elaborated garments with sober appearance…
And sometimes not (in the case of my Two tones jackets)

Copy that. Last time I checked, it was still called PJ 27. Maybe Stuart changed the reference to avoid confusion between the 2 variant configurations.

Not really heritage styled, but a heritage brand I suppose.

Today I'm delightedly wearing this Barbour International Short Scrambler waxed jacket.

I love Barbours and I was thrilled to pick this one up on eBay recently. With a zip-off hood, it's a shorter (duh!), neater, more urban jacket style than their usual country attire or motorcycle flavoured designs.

As soon as it arrived from the seller, I sent it off to Barbour for some minor repair and a rewax, and it's back with me today - fully three weeks ahead of their estimated timeframe for the work.

As usual with Barbour's repair and rewax service, the work is flawless and it's like a new jacket*.

I could not be more pleased.

*I know, I'm the first one to complain about negating patina. But the great joy of a waxed jacket is that you can keep re-establishing that patina over and over again!

Why the mixed feelings? Great looking jacket.
It is a great looking and fitting jacket. However I can not say the same about the hide.
Before ordering I had asked and received a couple of samples. The brown tamponato deerskin was amazing.
What I received has nothing to do with the sample. What is however worse is that there are three different batches used for my jacket- and all three totally different than the original sample. Panels with super flat hide (I mean 5 star flat), panels with nice grain and panels that look and feel dried out (I am no leather expert but I hope they will not crack). I mean you see the difference in colour and texture between the panels, similar to what you see at the blue label aero's. With the difference that the Thedi cost 1750e.
And I only had 2 jackets that smelled worse than that. A 5 star horsehide and an aero battered steer.

PS- I think my "disappointment" (maybe too heavy a word, after the two paradigm shift events of the last year, the birth of my only child and the sudden and unexpetcted death of my dad, I will obviously not lose my sleep over a jacket) comes mainly from the fact that the expectations were really high: I had paid a lot, I got caught in the Thedi hype (justified or not it does not matter), I had admired in person @ABCD 's amazing thedis, I had waited 7 months for the jacket to arrive... so when I received although the difference in the panels was obvious I convinced myself to ignore it. In any case: ofcourse I will be wearing it and enjoying it- though with a bittersweet taste.

At least you got a jacket to wear lol. I have been waiting for my Thedi order for three and a half years and counting...
