What was the last TV show you watched?

Puddin', who's a BIG "Outlander", fan has been buggin' me to re-subscribe to STARZ so she can drool over her current fave piece of hunky man flesh who stars in both shows. How big a fan is she? She signed up (pre covid) for an Outlander Tour of Scotland. I of course demurred as I like to travel "free n' easy" when I visit foreign lands. Also I've not watched one minute of the show. Thus far I've forestalled joining any other streaming services (I'm about to cancel Disney truth be told) but I like to keep her happy (and non-violent) so I may have to relent. Anything else worth watching on that channel?

Worf
Lady ToE enjoyed Outlander during the first season or so. I usually just made fun of it. She is not a fan of the lead actress and has found the more recent episodes to be less entertaining, yet still she watches( originally watched on Netflix). Other than that and the so far disappointing Luminaries (the reason we have Starz) and Men in Kilts, I haven’t found much to watch. Maybe American Gods because of Ian McShane. Like you, I like to keep the better half happy and for me to not wake up dead so for now we keep Starz.

Was indifferent to Caitriona Balfe in "Highlander" (as close to soft-porn as could be), but thought she was outstanding in "Ford v Ferrari."

Need to see if Pennyworth is available on the Canadian platform.

Wife and I finished Sons of Anarchy again, and man what an emotional final three episodes! We watched one of the features for the first time, a look at the final season and several of the "last scene, last episode" appearances by the actors.

Also another episode of Fargo, season two, as my wife is catching up. We started with three, then I saw the first two on my own, with my wife joining me for four. At the final scene in four, a look ahead in time, I shouted out "oh my God, it's him"! Wife, not having seen series two, did not get the reference.

She does now!

The first episode of The Luminaries on Starz. We signed up to Starz just for this show. After watching Green in Penny Dreadful, we have high hopes. The first episode was okay, but not as good as we hoped. The cast (happy to see Marton Csokas) seems pretty good and the visuals entertaining enough so hopefully the story will pick up. :D

Green as in Eva Green, and Martin Csokas as in Baron Quinn, Celeborn and Jack Bart???

Must check this out if possible...

I was writing and posted this before the two above posts showed up - it's karma!

The first three episodes (out of of six) of The Luminaires on Starz on Demand.

It's only just holding my interest - mainly to see Eva Green in some outrageous costumes as an astrologer and pseudo-madam. Though I know so little about New Zealand in the 1800s that the setting provides some interest too. But the plot - two allegedly perfectly matched people (who share a single three-minute scene at the start that's supposed to display their special bond... and doesn't) who are kept apart by the machinations of the criminals they fall in with after immigrating, is a mess. And it's not helped by its sloppy use of today's ubiquitous storytelling method - intercutting between their early days in NZ and the "present" - because it's often confusing in just which timeline any given part of the story is occurring.

So I can really only recommend it for the production design and the always-fun-to-watch Eva Green. Alas, I'm sorry to report that it's no Penny Dreadful!

Only have two episodes left of Killing Eve. I just love the character of Villanele, so delightfully psychotic. You can't help but like her.

I think you'll enjoy it. It's a version of the Batman universe I've never seen before. It seems pretty clear that this version of Alfred is a younger version of Michael Caine's characterisation more than any of the others (watch out for the roadsign outside his house - he lives on 'Micklewhite St'). This is, however, a very different reality. An alternative sixties. It's obviously a London with a death penalty and all sorts of differences. I hope season 2 gives us more to go on with that. Tremendous fun, and I hope they keep it going long enough that we get to see a whole lot more of this dystopia.

A great show. I've enjoyed the first season of Mayans too; looking forward to the rest. Fingers crossed we eventually get the mooted 'First 9' prequel, too.

Finished Killing Eve last night. Really looking forward to the next season, even though it's been delayed due to Covid.

Not sure what new series I should watch next. Any suggestions? I get Hulu, Amazon Prime, and Netflix. Can't afford any other streaming services, so it has to be on one of those three.

Have you seen "Into the Dark" (the 2019 version with Perry Mattfeld), "Dead to Me" with Christina Applegate or "Godless" with Michelle Dockery? They're on either Amazon or Netflix as those are our only streaming services.

Brief comments on all three here: #17464

I watched a few episodes of "Dead to Me" but decided not to continue. I'll check out the other two. Thanks!

WandaVision on Disney+.

Not everything in it works, but overall it's pretty fascinating if you're an MCU fan. It is certainly very different from anything Marvel's done in their earlier films/series, and it's mostly surprising. The acting and production values are quite good across the board, especially in its accurately mirroring TV sitcom styles from the fifties until now.

And yeah, Kathryn Hahn is a total hoot.

Took the whole weekend off last week for the first time in forever. Among various bits and pieces, I finished Mr Mercedes, caught up on the first two episodes of Pennyworth Series 2 (it only gets better), and binged the entire series 3 of Ash vs Evil Dead. Desperately hoping now they convince Bruce Campbell to do a series set in the future, the one thing the TV show didn't do being to address the jump from the original ending of the third film (as opposed to what was shown in cinemas), and is sort of where the last series winds up. Great show.
