grilled backyard barbecue burgers, typical summer food
For years in my early twenties, I ate pizza nearly every day either for lunch or dinner or both and never remember being anything but excited when I was about to take my first bite.
The only reason we don't eat it more often today is we are trying to be healthy and eat less cheese. My other go-to food, peanut butter, has had to fill the pizza void and has done quite an admirable job.
In my twenties, I thought I would wake up one morning and have morphed into the shape of a pizza slice; now, I fear I will wake up one morning looking like a jar of peanut butter. I don't have any problems eating the same food day in day out - as long as it is a simple classic - the way a lot of people seem to.
Hamburger steak with sauteed onions and brown gravy, mashed potatoes, and green beans.

Made these at home, because down here it's the same story. There's still a handful of cafeterias that have been operating for the better part of the last century that have it as an option, but most of those are only open for lunch during the work week these days. Probably because the neighborhoods they're in aren't what they used to be.Used to see this on menus as "chopped steak" and loved it as you'd put some chopped steak, gravy soaked mashed potatoes and onions on one fork bite and enjoy. And, if lucky, the chopped steak had some char on it which made it outstanding.
Now I almost never see it on the menu except at "old school" diners and one still-surviving, not-fancy steakhouse in my neighborhood.
