Why were the 70s such a tacky decade?

... and also my interest in vintage clothing, which ties directly with the kind of stuff that I was buying in the thrift stores back then. I won't even begin to lament how expensive stuff has become now that I was buying and wearing for a buck or two back then. [/IMG]

Ugh. If only I had invested in higher quality items I saw all.the.time. back then. It was everywhere. Idiot child, was I.

To me, the 1970's were a long, dark tunnel. I was either in school, or working for my next round of school. Started the decade as a prep school sophomore, and ended it as a night law student still a year and a half from graduation. Music and the arts were incidental: I didn't really enjoy them until I was out of school and earning a decent income.

Like Mrs. Hawk says...it doesn't matter if it still fits, if you wore it the first time it was in style, you shouldn't be wearing when it comes back.

Sounds like good advice. Fortunately (or unfortunately) most of what I was wearing wasn't any more in style then than it is now.
I guess that's the silver lining to being broke.

The seventies also had white guys with Afros. That was not a good look.
