I am selling my early 1950s Dobbs Gay Prince. Open crown height is 5 3/8 inches and the brim is 2 3/4 inches. Head opening measurements are shown in the photos. My head circumference in 22.1 inches and this fits me perfectly.
There are labels in this one that show it as an early 1950s model, I just don't want to strain the sweatband and liner to try to take photos. I can provide photos if you want.
There are two partially frayed brim stitches. One is frayed both on top of the brim and below, the other is frayed only below. See photos. Both of these stitches still seem solid to me but obviously these areas are delicate and should be handled with care.
Besides that, I see no blemishes here in the felt. It will probably take any crease without steam but I have not tried; the felt is stiff and melts like butter under steam, so I just always used steam instead of forcing the felt. Both the crown and the brim will hold any shape with steam and you can see in the photos how smoothly it returns to open crown.
The liner tip is unusual to my experience: the entire liner tip seems to be made of plastic rather than having a plastic cover. It's either that or the cover melted into the liner tip. Either way, the tip is a bit faded and discolored but other than that I see no issues with the liner.
The sweatband is solid and robust, and I see no issues with the stitching.
All in all an excellent example of this famous hat model.
I am asking $150 for this one shipped anywhere CONUS with USPS priority mail. I accept Pay Pal or CashApp. However, I will only sell on TFL if you have more than 20 messages here. If it doesn't sell here, I'll list it on eBay.
I'll ship the hat in a plastic bag but without any box stuffing (like packaging peanuts). If you want stuffing, let me know but I might have to charge something extra for shipping costs.
Of course, ask any questions you might have either here or in pm.
Thanks for your interest.
