The USS Waters, early version of Destroyer, first built in 1918, decommissioned in Oct.24, 1945, This baby has a long history, link below photo. My dad served on her as a young sailor during the last two years of the war in the pacific. She took Kamikaze attacks, but her guns kept her safe, what an awesome ship. I found this photo and link online, and will (a few months) post some scanned photos my dad has stored.

My personal 'favorite' WW2 ship is essentially a 'tie' between the:
Tribal Class DD. Ton for ton, one of the most effective weapons platforms ever devised.
