2 tunes by Ralph Marterie, a darn good big band from the 50's. Check out the bari sax work on "After Midnight" starting at 1:30.

AND you get a Gene Krupa tune at the end too. Gene is always a treat to watch as well as listen to.

There is a cartoon of Babbitt and Catstello (cat versions of Abbott and Costello) that has a lean cat pushing a chubby cat to grab a little yellow bird. It is the original Tweety bird. At one point Babbitt tells Catstello "Give me the bird". Catstello looks at the camera and says "If it wasn't for the Hayes Comission I'd give him the bird."lol
Good old fashioned rude humo(u)r.

Sincerely,
The Wolf

OK so I just saw this and had to share....This is probably going to be me after my 2d or 3rd nervous breakdowns...AND after I become a welcomed level of senile.

What can I say? I saw this thread and had to post this YouTube clip, yes I know it is a shameless plug for my chums who are singing, telling jokes and having a little dance, but I am rather proud of the footage.

So enjoy

Top Shelf Thinking! Huzzah!

I love it. Why can't our commercials be this creative?

World War II Propaganda Cartoons

What Hitler Wants (Soviet Union, 1941)

Momotaro's Divine Sea Warriors (Japan, 1945)
aka Pikachu Goes to War...my name for it. you'll note the resemblance of many of the characters to a certain Pokemon character

Produced in 1945 under the auspices of the Imperial Japanese Navy this film was also the first Japanese feature length cartoon. Incredibly it was made just a few months before the atom bombs were dropped on Hiroshima and Nagasaki. Shown here in two parts is the final battle scene from the movie. I must say that the attention to detail of the aircraft, weapons and uniforms is remarkable for the period. The disturbing part of the film is the question of who provided the voices of the British commanders in the surrender scene which is practically a reenactment of the British surrender of Malaya. Their English is very good and I don't think there were very many Japanese voice actors at the time who could speak that kind of British accented English very well.
