This is for the advanced hat makers/converters out their. Is the 207 hat flange good for pre 40's style hats(fedoras and the like). Of course, anyone is free to answer. I just thought it might have been a more advanced question.

Here's a recent conversion I did for a fellow lounger. He wanted it to look exactly like a hat he already has .
Before and after pics. Showing Brim trimmed, (sorry Joao) resized down from 5/8 to 1/2. Narrower ribbon, cleaned felt. Etc ...

There are thousands of flange codes out there. I usually go by the look of the profile on the flange. Do you have pictures of the profile? There were many styles in the 40's in regards to the brim flange profile. I have owned 40's hats that were fanged practically flat all the way up to a very high cup.

1940's Schoble Spinner (High rear cup with flatter front)

1940's Emerson (flatter flange overall)

1940's Stetson Flagship (medium cup)

I have tons more examples, but the "style" for brim flange in the 40's was all over the board. Use the style flange which you like the best and which style flange you like wearing the best

Just keep in mind that the higher the "cup" of the flange, the more drastic the "snap" of the brim. Flatter brims tend not to snap very well and usually require some steam to set a "droop" in the front of the brim.

The auction photos are not very clear as to the curve of the flange. When it arrives in the mail I'll take some better pics. I mainly wanted a flange to copy and make one of my own. I'll keep ya'll informed and by the way I also have a hat on the way for a conversion. I'm thinking of a 20's style cattleman's crease with a 2 1/4 snap brim or regular brim. We'll see. Did I mention I'm addicted?

Great to see you back Manfred! Hope you stick around a while longer. Great conversions everyone!

This is my third time blocking and recreasing this thing. I haven't had a hat to give me as much aggravation as this one has. The crown on this Resistol 3X is way tall. I was finally able to lower it a little and I went with a Diamond crease. I also went to pains to detail the Cross inside the Diamond, a tribute to the faith of Jesus Christ. I sewed on a 6 ply mid ribbon with just a keeper and a tail, keeping it simple. Although I'm not particularly fond of the Diamond crease it worked out in this case....

Well guys,I didn't win the black Stetson I had my eye on. However,I did find a nice Silverbelly instead. Here's my new project hat and here's a picture of what I hope it turns out to be. Sorry Joao,it's gonna be a 2 1/4 brim.
