We were at a Las Vegas styled, pre-Christmas show last night. One of the entertainers, a Doris Day tribute style singer, heard that my wife and I were ex-ballroom dancers. Bemused that an older couple could actually dance, really dance, she announced that for 'professional' dancers, this was her personal tribute. Sorry I can't show you our Rumba, but at the end of the song our singer was gracious enough to acknowledge our dancing, and she was sincere too, but as always just a tad in love with herself.
At the end of our routine, my wife and I each took a hand of the singer to bring her from the stage to the audience in order to take a bow. She released our hands, but instead of reciprocating our gesture of bringing her to the audience, she ignored us, instead she blew kisses to everyone. I looked across at my wife: "Diva!" She hissed silently. I just smiled and winked back, mouthing: "You were perfect." And she was. How I love that lady.
