While I sported the M&K Custom, my grandson rocked his Nottingham. I had been saving this lid since he was a kid, (infant, actually) but I waited too long, and he's outgrown it!! He still looks terrific and even in the mean streets of NYC, he got smiles and reactions from the normally jaded populous of the UWS.

Check out the size tag!
Edit: He's just turned two years of age. I bought another hat, too when I bought the Nottingham... a 6-5/8 Tyrolean style. I'd best hurry.
Sweet!

Austrian Patent (133275) stamped on the sweatband of the above P. & C. Habig Wien - Berlin Melone with the felt insert that P. & C. Habig Wien called "Auto Cape". The patent claim is to make a stiff felt hat that is resistant to denting and the felt insert being a part of the invention.

Outstanding stiff felt Steve. That Auto Cape feature is really interesting. Is it just attached right to the interior or is it removable. Special hat.

That fuzzy find is really cool. Is the head band sewed as part of the body of the hat? I like it. Great patterns linked up today.

Darn. I was hoping it would pop out a Batman cape or something wicked cool like that. Still a beautiful hat, just not quite as awesome as the sweatband stamps would imply!:D
Thanks! Yes but it comes with Alfred. :)

Red, Thank you. I have never tried to remove it. The felt insert goes almost all the way to the edge of the sweatband. It appears similar to the diagram. There aren't any dents so it must work. :)

New guy here, long time lurker. Wearing my modified modern Stetson wool "Whippet," my knockaround hat. Wanted to demo it for an inquiry here in the Lounge. Prefer vintage, and its got very little in common with an original Whippet, besides its name, but once its been trimmed and re-bashed, this cheapie is a pretty nice hat, and one I can wear without a care. -Dave

I wore my 50's? Royal Stetson to church today. Tan in color, velvety felt, shorter crown than I usually like, triple stitch overwelt, brown ribbon and back bow topped off with a matching wind trolley. Received more compliments on this one today.

i-vGvLQ5B-L.jpg
Nice back bow, and the triple stitching around the brim looks great too. I know most here prefer high crowns, but this hat shows lower crowns can be just as classy.

Looked out of the bedroom window yesterday, there was a bright, sunny spring morning to greet me. Dug out my faithful trilby straw, donned the Route 66 shirt, got the MG out and went for a spin. No sooner had I got back home than the rain came down. Still rather early for to wear the straws. In just over three weeks it will be the spring equinox, maybe that will usher in some sunnier weather.
View attachment 68624
Looking good GHT, hopefully proper straw hat weather will arrive soon. Although in England, you've always got to be prepared for sudden showers of course...

You look happy there :) Of course, I'd be happy too with a hat like that!

Sunny weekend, especially Saturday, dedicated to rugby games
The family is devoted to rugby union and football is only a marginal element, a bit bizarre in Italy:rolleyes:

A Barbisio Titan "Qualità superlativa" in gray was a two day long hat

v7fwns.jpg

Yesterday it was my partner for a walk and on the terrace to look at the state of the spring

This morning, accompanied me in my walk to the office

The felt of this Barbisio is called "Chamois" and the finish is suede

Made in Barbisio historical factory it was really well finished

It will soon be asleep for spring-summer and make way for lighter hats

Have a nice Monday!
That hat suits you, Daniele, and I really like the liner with the tree.

You've got just the right tilt going on there. Great liner too.

View attachment 68637 Today I am wearing a cheap, I mean cheap lid I picked up in Mexico last year. I am surprised as to its durability. It's getting quite warm in So Texas so I thought it appropriate.
Goes to show there are some inexpensive gems out there too :)

Great pictures again, love your boots too.

Forecast is rain, and more rain, with intermittent rain and clouds. However, the oilskin hat is staying home. The Everyman Indy hat from Penman gets the nod today. A bright spot on a rainy day.

i-9tGLJ82-L.jpg
You now, I saw a guy in town the other day wearing a hat that looked a lot like this one, same rich shade of brown, similar dimensions. I don't often see men wearing hats that are that nice around here, so he caught my eye straight away. I was considering going up to him and asking if it was new or vintage, but he got on his bicycle and rode off (without the hat flying away) before I could ask. Anyway, looks great on you.

The cap suits you.

Little black Aristocrat from Stetson sold at Kleinhans in Buffalo. Note the wind trolley button sewn through the bow, an alternate construction seen in the late 1930s - early 1940s.

That's a great picture of you, and the round shades really suit you. Not everyone can pull those off. Nice shirt too.

alanfgag impressed me with a black vintage Western piece he sported with a pencil curled brim. One similar to it was a must have! :) I found my own. Resistol 3X with pencil curl to at least 'imitate' (for I'll never duplicate) his presentation!
Now that's a brim! I'm enjoying all the black hats here!
