Here's a P&C Habig I haven't posted before. Also a Zefir, which dates back to 1972. Habig apparently kept using the Zefir name for a long time. Habig Zefir in brown, size 56, 6cm raw edge brim, 9,5 cm crown at the pinch. Made for Anton Pichler of Graz, Austria. The zefir name is well chosen because the felt is very thin, shapes easily and the hat is quite light.

Stetson Excellent "Woodlawn" made by Mayser Ulm under license, 58cm, Triple Stitch Over Welt, probably late 1950s. Notice the crease at the front and top of the crown (second photo). This style hat was popular in Germany in the late 1950s and worn without side dents.

Great looking hat, Steve. Not a "classic" style hat, but the quality and craftsmanship shines through. Nice find.

Great picture, Steve, and it places the hat in historical perspective. It does take the discussion here about wether or not to place a feather in the hatband to another level though! Then again, by the looks of things this was a festive occasion.

Stefan, Yes definitely! I actually found a 1930s hat in this style. It's tiny but from a company that I haven't been able to find before so rare. It should arrive in a couple days.

With all this cold weather we're having we need a good hat to keep us warm. This one should do it. Rockel Echt Velour, size 56, 6cm brim and 10,5 cm crown at the front. The unreeded sweatband and a bit of reverse taper makes me think it's before WWII. Had to replace the sweatband because it couldn't be saved.
The shop Transvalia was located in Gouda and founded in 1897 (during the Boer wars, hence the name) by a mr. Schenk. His daughter took over in 1917 until 1923 when it was taken over by Nicolaas Meijer, who was one of the hatmakers in Holland who made silk top hats. Meijer kept the shop going until it finally closed in 1980. If I'm correct Rockel closed its doors in 2001.

Another favorite, this hat is a piece of history. It is special that you can trace the lineage of the original vendor. Wow!

Hi, first of all I'm new to the forum. I'm from Dublin, Ireland and woke up on My 46th birthday last Monday and decided I needed something more than a flatcap. I bought a cheap paper trilby and figured it looked well so had a Stetson wool trilby shipped which arrived yesterday, looks ok. Browsing ebay last night I bought this, although it looks a bit soft. Anyone know the maker? What to expect from a used hat purchase?
