The Barbisio John (Moehawk) posted above has made it to my doorstep (and beyond) and I thank him again for generously trading it with me. I took some pictures of it the way I usually do. The hat is indeed superb. Very lightweight pliable felt. Here it is again (it deserves it). Barbisio Sportex in grey (Tanaro). Bound brim with double row of stitching at 6cm and crown 10cm at the pinch. Unlined. Daniele can probably shed some light on the fact that the crown patch and sweatband both state Cappellerie Barbisio (in French) instead of Cappelleria Barbisio (Italian).

That is one sweet Italian. It is good to see your face under such a beauty. Interesting crown patch.

Svelato l'arcano ;)

Thank you, headmaster. That will teach me not to draw conclusions before I had a good look at what it actually says on the sweatband and crown patch. Turns out "cappellerie" is the plural of "cappelleria". It had a p too many and an h short to be French. Boy, is my face red....:)
I'm lucky to escape without detention.

Stefan, Fantastic! You can really see the quality. I especially like the ribbon width and bow design / work. Also great to see you wearing it!

Steve, John, thanks. I have several Barbisio hats in my collection now and I think they are the manufacturer with one of the most diverse outputs of hats.

I am certainly indulgent with my representative in Flanders to whom I am entrusted with my hobby exchange bargains, though a bit of Italian he should study it, considering he has a love for the hats coming from here.
However, you are widely forgiven .... for now, we will see later.

Barbisio has a variety of styles in its maximum splendor that is magnificent above all for quality and experimentation that often surprise me.
On the other hand Panizza is the tradition and Borsalino is the unbridled fashion.

I'll be more dilligent with my homework from now on.:)
Just to start of the sunday with some more pictures, here's a Barbisio I haven't posted before. I thought it was bit mundane and too modern to post it here, but there's a lot to like on this one. The felt is very soft and the shape and colour are very nice as well. Barbisio extra lusso in grey. Size 57 with raw edge brim at 6cm and crown at 9,5cm at the pinch. No label inside the hat. Seller was Troncarelli in Rome.

The brim are 5.5 cm. and the creased crown is 11.5 centimeters

A Barbisio with personality with felt and ribbon combinations typical of the golden age of the house of Sagliano Micca (Biella)

A very classic look of Italian casual hats. This color is rich and deep. Cool ribbon too.

This one belongs here too, of course. The Barbisio heather that Daniele found for me. Barbisio Misto Montana, size 57. Brim at 6cm and crown 10,5cm at the pinch. Finish is called semi ruvido (semi rough).

Semi Rough, I like that. That finish really highlights that color. Is it soft or stiffish? Nice one.

Mike, thanks. It has a bit more shellac in it. Not as stiff as some homburgs but certainly more than other furfelt hats. Because these heathers have a certain amount of wool in the mix I think this was done to let it keep its shape more easily. The Stephen L. Stetson is stiffer in the brim than this one to give you a comparison.
