Matt, thanks! When I dug it up from under a pile of hats it I knew it had to come with me. I'm curious as to what Steve makes of this one.

Second one of this tuesdays haul. This one is a mystery hat to me. There is a company logo on the sweatband but I can't make out if there's an actual name there. Maybe Steve (mayserwegener) knows this logo. I'll call it Zilinder (German for top-hat) for now, although I admit I'm not even 100 percent sure if it's German or not. No labels at all inside this hat but it fits me perfectly, so must be a 56 size. Bound brim at 7 cm and crom 10 cm at the pinch. Unlined and no crown patch either. Doesn't look like it ever had one. The sweatband is unreeded. Back bow. Felt is wool (some fur content maybe, but not much) and the hat is quite heavy.
Mike (Redfokker) likes to see a crease-clip in action. Well, this hat called for it; there already was a sharp centre crease and it naturally shaped itself to this crease. It probably had a clip in the past, so I put one of the clips Mike kindly sent to me in this one. It could be shaped in another form easily, but I think this one fits with the period feel of the hat. I'm guessing late thirties or early forties.

Love this color, and I'm a back bow fan as well. This is a piece of history for sure, hope Steve has some ideas. The resurgence of the back bow in the late 1950s here in the USA is seen in the major brands. I think the first go around of this style was in the 1920s/30s, which this hat looks to be from. Very interesting. It does show some real vintage features. Cool!

I'm a happy guy Stefan! Crease clip in action with an antique back bow. Yessssss. This is another beauty with some definite age. The crease clip works well with this floppy soft style. My stiffer felts, not so much.

Mike, thanks. As I collect more and more hats I'm developing a definite fondness of the older hats. The lilac one is a winner for sure. Unique colour. Steve has a similar one on his site with a crease clip in it (he posted it here too).
