Rick just sent me a pic of my almost-finished Sombrero Cordobés.
As far as I know, it might be the only 100% beaver Sombrero Cordobés in the whole wide world. Almost certainly the only one in Winchester Natural felt.

Wow. That is one wide looking brim! Looks like a guy would need a door stretcher just to get it into his house! Very good looking hat, though! Rick does 'em up nice!

After researching these hats a bit, I've come to have a deeper appreciation for their history and place in Spanish culture. No one seems to know the hat's exact origins, but there are drawings of this style hat worn by day laborers dating back to the 17th century. I've come equate these hats more with the genteel Spanish equestrian culture of which, I suppose, Don Diego De La Vega was a member. Perfect for distinguished ladies and gentlemen alike.

I'm sure you'll manage to do it justice (and more than that), Rick. Getting the right fit for the crown is key I guess, for the flat brim not to distort. I haven't seen many, but so far none that could be considered high quality hats.
