I've got a terribly short waist, so all high-waisted jeans and skirts practically come up to my bust for me! Oh well, it's a more dramatic look than I want, but I'll have to deal.

Lady Day, I have never seen a pair of high waisted pants like those on your pattern in real life and if I ever found a pair someone would have to resuscitate me. lol

Those are so lovely.
A Friend of mine makes those style here with the buttons up the side for fastening and no pockets .i think the leg cuff width is about 24 inches.I think they sell for in or around £40.............Paul

I love the blue ones, LD. I would love a pair, actually, and have thought about buying the pattern. But I don't think they come up as high, do they? The jeans looked like they would have come right up to the bust, but the pants with suspenders look like they would end a couple inches below.

Perhaps it is a difference in the style. The jeans really do look like a corset or a bustier attached to jeans. The pants with suspenders don't have that appearance.

You don't mean me, do you? I might have worn a size 2 when I was 9 years old. lol And I really did have a pair of bib overalls.

Yes, you. You look so tiny in those pants. I wear bibs all the time in the summer. They are quiet cool because of the bigness of them.

lets be nice...

I've got this pattern too LD. I'm working up the nerve to actually make the grey ones. I'm thinking of not cuffing them. Still undecided.

Oh, good heavens! That isn't me. That's a photo I got from the Wall Street Journal web site.

I'm afraid the pants just don't float my boat. But the girl wearing them is cute.

I recently got the Spiegel catalog and they have a couple of pairs of very cute high waisted pants. Even better, and I saw these from another store but I can't remember which one now, they have built in tummy and tooshy control. So, no need for Spanx, yippeee. They actually are cute, although they are a pull on pant, and I wish they had the cute double row of buttons at the front or buttons up the side to make them look a bit vintage.

The catalog for spring actually had a few very lovely items. Some kind of vintagey, others not at all, yet it seems that pant waists are getting higher and according to Spiegel and a few other fashion mags lovely flowy feminine dresses are hot this season. I don't dress vintage everyday, especially in the summer, it's just too darn hot. But, I try to find clothes that are classically styled. I have a lovely white linen suit that I got a couple of years ago from JCrew with high waisted pants and a peplum jacket that I pair with a red or blue blouse and red and blue accessories. Too bad it's a really tiny size, and I don't think I can even get my foot into the pants at this time!:( But, my point is, it seems that vintage looking items are in for this season, so for those of you who don't dress vintage everyday but like a classically tailored look, you might just find some really lovely items at places like Spiegel and Newport News.

High-rise jeans on way up
By Jen Melocco

June 12, 2007 12:00

HIGH-waisted jeans are on the rise. So it's goobye muffintop at last as retailers report the shape-enhancing new arrivals are walking out the door.

David Jones has reported that the high-waisted style is the fastest growing category. And other major retailers including Jeans West and Sportsgirl have jumped on the trend.

"They give you a waist, shape your backside and work well with this season's wedge heels,'' said David Jones women's wear general manager David Bush.

"We are finding that customers, who have had their fill of low-rise jeans, have gone to the other extreme."

Leading the trend is Australian label 18th Amendment, which is stocked at David Jones. The brand, which is manufactured in Sydney, is also in top stores including LA's Fred Segal and London's Harvey Nichols.

"Kate Hudson was spotted in our jeans in New York three weeks ago and there are waiting lists for them in London,'' said 18th Amendment owner Rachel Rose.

The label's designer Rebecca Dawson said she believed high-waisted jeans were flattering.

"They give the illusion of lengthening the leg and narrowing the waist,'' Ms Dawson said.

"They also eradicate the dreaded muffintop.''

Chain stores have also been quick to pick up the trend. Jeans West have just introduced four high-waisted styles in their Spoylt and Alba Fan Club ranges. Sportsgirl's first high-waisted jeans hit the store next week. With the waist line rising nearly 10cm at the front, it is a major step away from low-rise.

I just bought 2 new pair of high waisted jeans from of all places Victoria's Secret's catalouge. I took them in today to get hemmed (5 inches too long even in heels...the curse of being short...)
