    Size variation between brands?

As you can see by the posts, everybody has had hats of the same size fit differently. I've even had hats from the same company fit differently. In fact, I have two hats from the same company, the same model/style, (only in different colors) and they fit differently. I've got European hats...

    Hat Stretcher and Steamer

Does anyone know if they still make these and where to buy one?

    Darn parrot!!!

Thanks for your comments. Actually, I hate to admit this, but this is the SECOND hat she's bitten. (I know, shame on me.) anyway, the first one was a nice Christy's hat that I had to have cut down to a 1 1/2 inch brim after the bite. It was 'okay' but not great. I like stingy brims but...

How do you store your hats?

Hat boxes & Hat storage. I have tried to find cardboard hat boxes, like the ones you get your hats shipped in. I can find the box, but I can't find the insert with the hole cut out where the hat fits into. Anyone got any info on where I can buy some of those boxes for storing my hats...

    Darn parrot!!!

I have a question for any of the hat makers on this site. My parrot took a bite into the brim of one of my hats. The material is all there, it's just bitten through. About an inch long gash. There is still 2 inches of good brim left. My two questions.... 1. Can felt be repaired...

Looking for New Grey Fedora Under $200.00

Check out these hats at Worth & Worth. I just bought the "cortina" model. Very soft. I have several Borsalinos and this ranks right up there with my favorites. Only $165. I'd highly recommend it. I've bought hats from Miller Hats and they are nice, but not close to this hat. I...

Looking for Montecristi panama hat advice.

Thanks, all, for your input. I think I'll be going with Panama Bob.

"Take your hats off, you are indoors".

Sorry, I disagree with the "respect" argument. Traditions change through time and since hat-wearing is not something that is common today, I think the tradition of removing hats out of 'respect' is pretty much gone, also. It is also a tradition that doesn't make a whole lot of sense...

    Wear the Pin?

I've taken all the feathers and pins off my collection of hats. Not the look for me, personally. I also find it appalling that Borsalino would print their name on the ribbon, as someone in here mentioned.

    Worth & Worth, New York

When I was back in NY a couple weeks ago, I stopped by Worth & Worth and bought a 'Cortina' model fedora. It's soft and beautiful. One of my favorite hats already. I also have a 'Weekender' from them and that's another fine hat.... a bit thicker felt. The Cortina is just buttery soft.

Looking for Montecristi panama hat advice.

I'm looking to buy a Montecristi panama hat and would like any info and advice from your personal experiences. Where did you buy from and were you pleased with your experience? I'm looking to spend about $400 tops. Any advice or thoughts?

Do you wear hats in shopping mall?

Yeah.... I'll print this list up and keep it in my pocket until I can memorize it. Like I said, it's cool if you want to do that, but I don't see the need for it in today's society. I may do some of those if the situation is really a high class affair, but, honestly, how much of that do...

Do you wear hats in shopping mall?

This is an interesting subject. I'm in my early 50s, so I was raised with all those etiquette rules. Personally, I don't think in today's world I need to worry about taking my hat off indoors. Now, if you're wearing a hat to feel "vintage" or you're trying to be Bogart.... well, do what...

The Brotherhood of the Thin Ribbon

Count me in as a fan of the thin ribbon. I have all ranges on my collection of hats, but for some reason, I like the look of the thin ribbons best.

What makes the best hats best? An open question to all us snobby hat lovers.

I know you're talking about felts and other fine craftsmanship details, but what also makes a best hat "best" is if you like it or not. If it's the hat you always reach for when you go out the door, then it's the "best". Sometimes, it's not so much about felts and craftsmanship as it is...
