A before & after Resistol - no caustic solvents - just steam - my customer took me seriously - and paid me extra - and gifted me a 1940s Wool Gabardine shirt.
Nada. I am pretty sure that this sweat has been replaced. It is almost like an old school "comfort sweat band" - a cloth backed leather - Old but tensile. That ticket is the only remnant. And I love that it IS a ticket (shape).
The only information I can make out on this ticket is - that it was in fact made in the Philadelphia Factory. The fella who owns it - attributes it to his grandfather on the King ranch at the turn of the twentieth century. Any other insight would be wonderful!
It is matted - steam and a felt sponge. Work the hat over steam - open the crown - steam - work the sponge over the mat against a hard surface (blocks work well) - do this over and over until the steam has broken the mat, and the sponge helps flick it away.

The secret thrill is in the tweed rag silks. Each one I have ever seen has had a silk unique unto another. Paisleys, flowers, pinwheels - dynamic colors. So in addition to the outrageous exterior, the collector has - like an easter egg.
