I was away at my brother's for two days, helping him to clear his basement of rubbish for a probable move, and on return home last night my wife and I caught up on the season premiers of Brooklyn Nine-Nine and Gotham. Gotham was brilliant, we're really looking forward to this season, and BNN is looking to be great fun once again.

PS and Belecheck cementing his place as the greatest coach in Football history (this far) with his shut-out of the Texans with a rookie QB making his first start, in prime time. I HATE the Pats.... with all my heart and soul, but even I have to acknowledge his greatness. As the ole saying goes:

Agreed. My issue with him is he will cheat (and has been caught), but he is brilliant, successful, one of the best and, unfortunately, a cheater - just wish he wasn't the last one. I read an article last year on his coaching approach and "intense" doesn't begin to capture it. He studies his opponents furiously and expects each player to do the same - and as he runs into players randomly though out the week, he grills them on their prep. No one, from Brady down to the last guy on the roster wants to be unprepared for that conversation.

Honored a commitment I made to myself not to let NFL TV control me, so for yesterday's incredibly beautiful day, I enjoyed the bulk of it outside and missed all the games. I felt it was cosmic justice for me when I saw that the Giants and Jets both lost with the Jets throwing 317 interceptions - glad I missed that.

Sunday is, for the most part, Lady ToE and my one full day off together so we tend to spend it together without the NFL. Yesterday, we made it back in to town late in the afternoon. She did her thing and I lazed around with some NFL. Finally watched a complete game of my Cowboys as typically they drive me crazy and I have to walk away.

Quite a number of shows, actually, as I've been laid up with a wrenched left ankle. (No pain, just inconvenience. I tell people, a la Dorothy Parker *, "I can explain how it happened in five words. 'Want to buy a cat?' ") (No, not really; I wrenched it exercising. But this is funnier.)

The TV show that stands out is "The 'J' for Judas Affair" from Season Four of The Man from U.N.C.L.E. on Decades' weekend binge of the series. "Judas" is a neat mystery thriller with turns and twists, and in which the revelation of the true mastermind is held until the last few seconds of the episode. It reminds me a bit of the 1950s Ellery Queen novel The King Is Dead, except that there is no locked-room puzzle.

* Dorothy and her husband Alan Campbell owned a white elephant of a house and farm in upstate New York. Challenged to describe it in two words, Dottie immediately said, "Want it?"

Poldark. season 2 opener. I enjoyed it.

Indian Summers. This is probably my favorite show on TV, and I find myself looking forward to each new episode, which isn't even the case with most of my favorite TV shows. Just a great feel to it more than anything.

John Oliver. return from a month off. Good stuff.
