Way back in the day, circa '81 when I was in the USAF stationed at R.A.F. Lakenheath in the UK. I had a V neck pull over in OD green, more of a brownish color actually. I loved that thing. I kept it after my enlistment was over but, alas, I was never that skinny again. lol.

Nice to meet another sensible man who shares my tastes. I should get a commission from outdoor knitwear because I recommend them so often, but the V-neck WP is available from them in a range of sizes and in both OD and Brown. www.outdoorknitwear.com

It's nice being able to wear my WPs again in the morning and evening because Fall has begun at last.

Thanks for that link. A couple weeks ago in a Goodwill Outlet store I found a sweater made by R&R Apparel of Nashville, Tenn. outfitters for the US Customs Service. At $4.50, it was quite a bargain. (It looks pretty much like the 9044 on the outdoorknitwear site) It's dark blue and heavy, at most maybe a light windbreaker over it would ever be needed if it got too rainy. It is used but seems almost in like new condition. I hesitated because it looks a bit "Police-y" but I think with jeans and some leather Clark's desert boots it looks fantastic, so I bought it. At that low price why not?

The Goodwill Outlet stores are not the retail type store. The Outlets have big blue rolling bins with various fresh junque in them they roll out from the back for shoppers to paw over.

That's interesting. I have heard of these vast outlet stores in the US. I have tended to favour the crew neck Woolly Pullies but am thinking about acquiring the V-neck in Brown or Dark Grey Mix, probably with epaulettes and pen pockets.

Saw this Norwegian Woolly Pully on ebay - had no idea Eskimo made these, but it looks similar to the UK variants.

I am wearing an Aussie 'Howard Green' today; is a plain version, not the camo. Very warm and has a bit of poly in it for shape rentention and hard wear.

i'm on the train at the moment so I shall look at the link later. I think I'd like to get a Howard Green.

Re. the 'eskimo': similar to a Dutch WP I had about 20 years ago. Thinner ribbing than UK version. Darker green as well - a bit like the Moss Green I'm wearing today!

Judging from your description about the ribbing, I think I may have had a Dutch WP once - it was a good one, think I ebayed it eventually though.

Do you have any of the thicker rib but still WP style with suede patches and raglan sleeves that were popular in the late 70s early 80s? They were made by Bridgedale and Commando and often labelled for Barbour.

Yes, I do have one of those in a kind of Derby Tweed (but slightly darker) mad by Barbour. And I have a dark brown WP with thick suede patches made by OKW.
Re. the Dutch WP, I think I gave it to charity when I grew out of it. Not as good as the UK version but I liked it.

I am in a blue-grey crew neck WP at the moment.

I saw a chap at Gare Du Nord a few days ago wearing a green crew neck WP, I think it was wool, but the colour was a little odd, a sort of pea green hue?

Yes it was an unusual colour.

It would not surprise me if OKW bought out some offers soon, I think they sometimes do at this time of the year, Autumn, nearing Christmas.

Yes,I just had that come through today too. 70 years of the WP that's good going, (shame their discount isn't 70% to match the number of years
