I had the narrower, matching ribbon put on by Henry the Hatter in Detroit; and then they got carried away and trimmed off more brim than I'd requested . . . but I like it now. At the same time I'd hoped they could do a bound edge -- trying for the Whippet style, I was -- but they said the dimensional brim made that impossible.

Hello All: I’m new but i have followed this forum vigilantly for over a year before i recently joined. ALL i have learned about hats has come from you all with EVERY post. I feel insulted and diminished whenever ANY of our Blessed Liberties are overruled by the Powers That Be!. The freedom to express oneself (speak) is a Universal Liberty in my eyes and as hard as it is to hear at times, it STILL provides balance necessary for “people to be people”!!! As an adult i know how, and have the authority and right to “TURN THE CHANNEL” if i don’t like what i’m seeing. I DO NOT have the right (morally or otherwise) to STEAL someone else’s RIGHT do the same! So, in closing i would simple ask that i be allowed to change the channel, INCLUDING THIS FORUM!! My 2 cents, for now. Be well. Bowen PS: the hat i’m wearing today is an “empty” hat.

Thanks Charlie. I've found some decent hats recently, but that suit might be my single best find ever. At least until the novelty wears off. Ha ha.

There's a thread subject discussing the various "Fawn" colors Akubra offers. In humor, Bob posted a photo of Tawny Kitaen from a Whitesnake video (you know the one). It was deleted. Bob asked in the thread, "Why?" Crickets. So, Bob being Bob, he reposted it. Now he's gone.

Like Ant said, this reeks of vendetta and personal animosity, not enforcement of any rules. There are regularly photos of scantily clad women in many threads - some vintage, some modern. In addition, many members skate the language line pretty close and some have crossed it. These folks aren't banned.

Not to mention one member who, in a forum that supposedly eschews politics, regularly craps up nearly every thread she's in with boorish political claptrap (and is worshipped around here).

I'm inclined to join Ant and Karl at the bar down the street. I've really loved this place since I joined and have had a great time. Made new and interesting friends. But this is a real turn-off.

This is a moderated forum with guidelines. They have every right to run it as they see fit. They have a responsibility, however, to apply these rules consistently and fairly. If they wish this to be a vital and living forum, and not be reduced to the same folks sitting around griping about the weather, they will take that to heed.

Thanks for the information, Jim. I was going to post one today, but in this light I'm reconsidering. I love Bob's good humored postings and banning him for that just seems petty.

Yeah... A lot like going to a pool party and finding what might (or might not be) a Baby Ruth bar floating in the deep end.

I'm incredibly grateful for the Lounge. And certainly, standards of etiquette must apply. But this feels like it might be an error on the part of the moderating community to fairly communicate and/or apply such standards. I mean... I think Tawny whateverhernameis is PG stuff and I'm pretty darned square.

This place is the only "virtual" community that I belong to. I hope that the folks in charge examine the situation closely and correct any mistake as soon as possible. The Lounge means a lot to me and a lot of other people. Hopefully, it can remain a place where principles continue to prevail over personalities.

RIGHT ON, James!! Who hates Bob?!

I know we are only pawns around here, but doesn't our daily supply of content, banter, as well as TRAFFIC to the site count for anything? Bob sent me a copy of the photo he believes he was banned for, and the much re-posted Pam Anderson photo this week was clearly far more revealing and provocative than anything Bob ever posted.

What's up, bartenders?!?! I recall two of you responding in support of a kid wearing and posting a Nazi SS skull on his hat, and yet, what Bob may have done doesn't come close to the offensiveness of that guy, and he's banned again?!

I thank any and all of you (bartenders/administrators) who may provide some much needed clarity to this matter. The rest of us need to understand what you all consider acceptable, and not. We're getting lots of mixed messages.

Move over, Ant, Karl, Jim, Matt. We'll form our own club. And I got a "new" vintage hat today...

I had no intention of posting a black hat today but in light of the apparent arbitrary suspension or expulsion (if it's not, please explain) of my friend, Bob, I wear this early 1900's Stetson. Bob, it's 69 and sunny down here, though a lot of the shine of this place is gone.

I agree wholeheartedly with Jim. This is the only forum that I regularly participate in and it's because of the people here. Bob, being one of those very people that I've contacted privately just because of the comfort level I felt in talking to him. Nothing important, just to BS as buddies do.

I've seen politics discussed here in other threads, as well as religion and have seen these things ignored by the mods. Discussion of politics and religion, even if from the "Golden Era" is still a discussion, is it not? The language I've seen in some of the other treads equals or exceeds what Bob served his suspension for. One I believe he deserved, though it was for too long. I've got some serious thinking to do about this place.
