Well it seems like I continue to bounce from one manufacturer to another, from one style to the next, and from one treated hide to another... as I plan my first custom jacket. It seems I cant stick to one choice before seeing something awesome posted somewhere that immediately grabs my attention. I have gone from a custom Aero Sheene, Thedi CR, Thedi Shawl, Eastman A2 (monarch or Havana brown), Aero 30's premier highwayman, Aero bootlegger ..... need a plan to keep this from getting out of hand. 3 or 4 jackets at any one time tops haha :)

If 3 or 4 jackets at a time is your goal, I suggest deleting TFL from your browser and search history. Forget this place exists...carry on...nothing to see here.

But if you realize you are kidding yourself, welcome.

Yes, i have been looking at this site for about 2 mo and have 2 jackets already!

I wore a leather jacket for long time when i lived in AK... then moved to AZ. Now in NorCal i can wear them a good 7 or 8 mo. I have always been a jacket person being from AK.

mygar - yes indeed, welcome to Fedora Lounge! You really should look away and let your wallet have a rest...

Or, buy them used. That's what many of mine are, pre-loved, broken in, and just did not work out, or whatever life's circumstances entailed.

That said, I would not suggest a custom jacket if you've not had several others prior, too easy to wind up with buyer's remorse. Get to know your tastes and preferances, shop around some, make a few good mistakes, and you'll come up with exactly what you are looking for. Shoot, one or two of my own "mistakes" are listed in the classified section now. :)

Yes, i agree... the 2 i bought were used (but new!) and they are really nice. One is a keeper forever (unless original owner really wants it back ... but it would be tough on me... to let it go).

I will hold off on a custom for a good while ...

Lollll... haha to funny... will try to avoid the black hole :)
Good luck with that. Please let me know the secret when you discover it. Although I feel like I'm becoming rehabilitated. 2 leather jackets (previously hundreds bought/sold) and I will meditate and die on a mountain like Luke after slaying the new sith. There is no spoon (or last/perfect leather jacket).

Hahah.... I agree lol... i have experience in other hobbies... watches... humidors... cigars... i know the trend and myself!

I did not realize that i have always like to collect things... even though i dont consider myself a collector. My wife pointed this out ha.

I think the big thing that i thrive on is the learning... researching... the hunt...

This is absolutely true for many of us here. It took me a good while to realize it, but it seemed as soon as my latest "perfect" jacket arrived I was already planning the next one. I think a AeroFan has a great suggestion about sticking to the used market. Your dollar goes a lot further this way, and when it doesn't work out it is not as disappointing as when you have gone the custom route on a new jacket.
