    Poll: Favorite Brim Size

I like it to be about 2 1/2 - 2 7/8. Anywhere in that range suits me fine.

    Godfathe II Shirt

Doesn't he wear a waistcoat with it as well, hiding the pockets? To my eye it resembles a sort of cardigan/shirt hybrid. Just my two cents, Tommy

What do you think of modern "Street/Punk" Fedoras?

The plight of the hat-wearing people in a nutshell. :)

New Stetson label - to remove or not remove?

If it's bothering you, you may as well unpick it. All it should take is a seam ripper, or some pocket knife scissors. I guess you could then tuck it into the sweatband so at least it's still with the hat. Or perhaps if you were feeling arty, you could sew it into the lining, which would be a...

    Money Clip question

I decided today that I wanted a money clip, but didn't want one badly enough to buy one. So I made one out of an old teaspoon. Hammer it flat, bend the handle around a broom shaft, and you're all done. I found it quite fun, and it works a charm! Tommy

"I could never pull off X"

Women commonly refer to their "style," and we all have one, i.e: not wearing blue shirts etc... I think that when someone says "I could not pull that off," they imply that it is contradictory to their style. For example, the purple frock coat that Depp wears in the new Charlie and the...

    Trimming a brim

I just trimmed the brim on an cheap wool cattleman I had lying around from 3 1/2 inches to 2 3/4 / 3 inches just before. In my case I had a hat I wanted the brim to replicate, so I popped one on top of the other and traces around the one to be copied in chalk. I used meat scissors to cut...

Trench Coat - the 'Ultimate' Thread!

It looks to have a nice cut (on the model, at least), with nice modern button spacing. It says it's a cotton/polyester blend, which shouldn't be a problem unless you specificly want a 100% cotton coat. I find some synthetic fibre can strengthen the fabric, and I would imagine add extra...

Trench Coat - the 'Ultimate' Thread!

I've never really looked on the bay for trenchcoats, so I can't offer too much advice on that. I'd say visit a few thrift stores, you never know what people want to throw out. I found a few nice coats for $2 a piece once!

New Swanepoel/Stetsons: "Fewer than 50 of these hats will ever be produced."

Ugly hats in my opinion. $150 for an ugly patterned wool felt cowboy? Designer indeed...

    The Antipodean thread

Sadly I'm down in the South Island, but if I ever do wander up Auckoland way I'll make certain to check that area out. Thanks Smithy, swinggal and Miss Siss! Tommy

    Toppers Unite

It seems to my relatively untrained eye a very singular hat. Is the ribbing along the brim intentional, do you think, or the result of poor storage over the years.

    The Antipodean thread

I'm from New Zealand. There is an amazing lack of (affordable) vintage clothing/accessories here, but auctions with decent cufflinks, pocket watches etc... are easy enough to come by.
