I'm not quite sure what to say about this, but i hoped
that sharing it would ease the pain and confusion.

I recently lost out on purchasing this coat. I believe it's late 40's to early 50's.
I've been looking for one for some time. I'm hoping someone may have any specific
information I could use to help my hunt in the future. Like perhaps it was Police issue, military etc. Thanks.
I purchased a Bailey News boy some time ago from a vendor in here
that I believe was either in Vermont or New Hampshire. They used
to have a banner in here, but I no longer see it and do not recall the name.
This ring any loud bells with anyone?
Any info would be truly appreciated.
I've seen two Mallory's on that auction site that both look very different yet both have Mallory Ten stamped on the sweat band. How can that be? I'm confused.

I've been searching in vain for a black mallory in my size for my wedding which is 5 weeks away. I know there are many other hats but I love mallory.
I've been trying to find any black hat in my size( 7 3/8)
Well while I continue my search, I'm looking for a little advice in terms of buying...
I've seen some great example of this jacket both in the lounge and in film, which got me to thinking.
Does anyone know the history of this jacket?
When it first appeared?
How long was this trend lasted?
Was it considered to be more sportswear that business attire?
so many questions :)
While this may seem a no brainer, all of my suits, past and present have been solid until now. Im having a black chalk stripe suit made for my wedding and need to find a tie, or have one made to go with it. I was told that the best (only) options are either a window pane pattern or a solid tie...
I picked up a very light colored (taupe) Borsalino that had a stain that looks like it was from the sweat band. Well after a nice soak in naptha the stain remains. Is is it possible or even advisable to have the hat dyed a darker color?
Hi there gents
I've been considering buying some two-tone wings from Remix for a while now.
Have any of you ever purchased from them before? If so, do they run true to size?
Are they worth purchasing?

It finally arrived and I love it! The the brim is 2" and the crown is 5".
It's very stiff, has a great finish and is in beautiful shape. I've been looking for a brown one for a while. Not sure how old it is, but the seller say's it's a late 50's or early 60's hat.
So i know the old saying "never wear white after labor day", but does this apply to B & W wing tips as well? I planned on wearing a pair for my wedding this November, but my soon-to-be mother in-law hit me with that line.
Say it isn't so...
well it arrived the other day, but just now photographed it. It's a resistol with a 2 1/4" brim and about a 5" crown. The top of the liner seems to be plastic, so I'm thinking it can't be that old. Anyone have an idea as to it's possible age?
Prior to joining the Lounge, I was only aware of Stetson and Dobbs as makers of quality hats. Now I have been introduced to, what I fear will become an obsession, the world of Borsalino. Who were some of the other hatmakers back in the day and what set them apart from the others?
I just purchased a Dobbs and in the band is an icon that says "Guild Edge". I have not seen this mark in other hats that I can recall and am curious as to its meaning. Then again, I don't own many hats yet so, this could be fairly common.
I'm getting married in just about four months, and would like to get a tailored 3 piece suit (early forties) made for the occasion.
Anyone have any recommendations?
Thanks.
