    Show us your Guns!

The OF Mossberg .22 you have there was selected to be a training rifle for the Royal Army and the US Army as well. I have one of these training rifles. The model is a 42M with micrometer rear sight and multiple aparture front sights. It will fire short, long, and long rifle cartridges. I don't...

What is your favorite aircraft of all time?

I've been hesitant to post in this thread because of the age of the aircraft. The Boeing 727 was conceived in the late '50's and started production in 1963. It has always been my favorite aircraft to look at, fly in, model, and use as my simulator. Production of this aircraft was surpassed...

Whatever happened to "coat and tie required"?

There are several very nice places in and around St. Louis, but my favorite place was the 94th Aero Squadron at Lambert Field just off of 30R aways up from the threshold at the 1500' markers. Used to be coat and tie only in the dining room after 1800. It was also pretty dressy in the (huge)...

    Your favorite musical act memories

I saw Bennie Goodman play at the Mississippi River Festival at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville around the '76 time frame. Maybe a year or so earlier. Wonderful musician.

    Cologne and perfume

Truffit & Hill 1805. I use the after-shave balm. It's nice on my skin which is a little razor sensitive. I don't use cologne.

    Branding Bond, James Bond.

Unless you have hands the size of bear claws, I think you are confusing this with the 'slide bite' of the PPK. Your hand would have to be enourmous to sit 1/2" higher and around and above the end of the frame tang on a P99. Sunspell Nokia Sony Ericsson Thomas Ford S.T. DuPont Heckler &...

    Current USAF Issue A-2s

It looks like they're down to scraps for assembling an A2. Hard to believe they can't find skins large enough for half a sleeve.

What do you do for Living?

I'm a sales manager and jack-of-all-trades fix it man. I'm going to start charging my company IT rates for house calls and union wages for electrical repairs.

A forgotten Golden Era virtue, Thrift

Local network television stations are still required to broadcast in the clear. The signals can still be received with the appropriate antenna. The Government doesn't provide the antenna.

    Show us your Guns!

The range was in Belleville on North Illinois Street owned by Rick Yale. I was with him for about eight years until he sold the range to someone from out of state. It's still open as far as I know, but rates doubled with everything else, and I don't know if the new owner ever got his stamp for...

    The Windsor Collar

A proper spread collar I think looks better with a suit coat than any other collar. I have several UK shirts where the collar fills the area of the upper part of the coat right to the points. The collar and jacket lapels form a diamond shape. Gieves & Hawkes and Turnbull & Asser are two of...

    Show us your Guns!

I wouldn't put it past them to do so, but no, nothing like that yet. We had an Ingram, MP5, and an Uzi on the range for rental. That Ingram was a hoot! I always wanted a G3 myself.

    Show us your Guns!

That's not Class III for where you're located is it? I know corporations can get a stamp for Class III as I used to run a range in Southern Illinois with several Class III weapons, but for the ordinary Joe, Class III in Illinois ist verboten.

A forgotten Golden Era virtue, Thrift

I'm of the opinion of buying the best you can afford so you don't have to buy it twice. There's no sense in throwing away money on junk, when for a few to several dollars more you will have something that outlasts the warrantee.

    Show me your favorite jacket

I would buy another of these, but it just wouldn't be the same. I doubt I could find the replacement patches for my squadron and wing since it was deactivated in '95. This is the most comfortable jacket I own. Incidentally, we didn't win that competition in '84. We did win in '81, and...

Quiz: Is your decor from another era?

I got the '40's on the other quiz. That's close enough. Late '30's for me actually, but '40's is close.
