G'day folks,
A very interesting book which describes the impact of the Depression in Australia is 'My Brother Jack', by George Johnston. It tells the story of a suburban Australian family, from the point of view of the younger son. It describes the gradual spread of job losses and...
G'day folks,
For what it's worth, I'm already saving up for my next Bill Kelso jacket. I'm thinking that a russet jacket in a slightly slimmer cut (than my current BK) is what I'm looking for. I don't think I'll be in a position to buy until after Christmas, but I'm looking forward to seeing...
I bought a house jacket from Bill Kelso a couple of months ago. There was quite a bit of back-and-forth between Andy and me, and he was very helpful, patiently dealing with my many questions and changing wishes.
The jacket arrived in Australia about a week after it was sent. I'm very happy with...
If I may ask, what size is the crusher?
Oh, and if the crusher is my size, and you're willing to ship to Australia, do I get a signed photo? ;)
Cheers,
Matt
I wonder whether baggier jackets were preferred as they allowed ease of movement. I'm sure that an overly tight jacket wouldn't be what you'd want, especially with having to reach around the cockpit.
Cheers,
Matt
Thanks for the kind words, folks.
Stearmen, those are wise words. There are a number of places here where sections of tin ceilings are being used to panel fences. Crazy, given its rarity today. Mind you, they're pretty corroded so they'd be unusable now. As to the lovely house you're looking...
G'day Vespizzare,
I purchased a Bill Kelso jacket, which arrived several weeks ago. I have an unusual shape, due to having dropped around 140lbs over several years. I'm about a 41inch chest in a T-shirt, and wear size 32 jeans, and am a little loose around the middle. All that excess skin has...
Hi Lolly,
Thanks for the kind words. I'm having difficulties in copying photos across from my camera, but hope to upload some over the next few days. The kitchen and bathroom are newly-renovated, after having been renovated (and the kitchen moved to a former-bedroom) in the 1960s.
In the...
G'day folks,
A long-time lurker and recent poster, I thought I'd weigh in with our place. It pre-dates the golden era, but only by a few years. We bought it earlier this year and at 40 years of age, it's my late entry into the property market.
A 1908-built Federation Queen Anne house, with a...
G'day folks,
Thank you very much for your feedback and kind words. The jacket is terrific and I'm wearing it as much as I can. Now the plan is to find the right period-correct nose-art to paint on it. Oh, and to decide which pattern I'll choose from Bill Kelso for my russet jacket! I may size...
G'day folks,
I received my Bill Kelso house A-2 during the week, having taken eight days in the post from Greece to rural Australia. I'm delighted with the jacket and the service received from Andy and Platon.
The jacket is sized 42, and is very comfortable to wear. I was initially wondering...
My Bill Kelso house A-2 arrived during the week, having taken eight days to get from Greece to Australia. I'll post details in a new thread.

It can be hard to hand money to any business if we're unsure of what we'll receive. I guess part of the challenge is reaching a 'critical mass' of customers who are willing to hand over their hard-earned to ensure that a business reaches the next level. I figure that I like what I've seen and I...
I've also ordered a house jacket in seal. Andy has been the very model of helpfulness, sending photos and details, and and answering my many questions. I'm that excited, and will be sure to report back when it arrives!
Cheers,
Matt
Heh, they even make them in kid's sizes. I found this one and painted it up for my foster-daughter. She sits with me when I do jacket painting, and she wanted one of her own. For a girl with medical high-needs, she's happy and loves to help! The jacket is fleece-lined and looks a lot like the...
G'day Casper,
Thanks for posting this photo. It is quite an evocative picture, and I'm sure there's a fascinating story behind it. I'm fascinated by human history and this picture speaks volumes. Two young men, doing their best and putting themseves in harm's way for the common good. They could...
It's only my opinion (and we know what opinions are like!), but I find that jacket to be almost hideous. Too 'fussy', and a bit 'try-hardish'.
All completely subjective, of course, but I wouldn't wear it if it was given to me for free.
Cheers,
Matt
