Hi gang,
I received my hat jack from John Penman last week and this is among the absolute must haves for anyone who wants to keep or restore the perfect fit of his hat.
Here's two pictures of a prototype - I'll take pictures of my own, when my wife comes back with the camera...
I've already shown you some teasers of this hat in the "a couple of hats" thread. However I cannot deny that my pride makes me believe that this hat deserves its own thread. I hope you don't mind.
Four, almost five years... this is how long you've been bugging me to PLEASE make a hat for you...
Dear all,
I'd like to add some classic (preferable) oval hat boxes to my hats. You know, those where the hat is resting on a ring upside down, so that it's not moving forth and back during shipping.
Does anyone know where to get them?
Thanks,
Marc
Hello everybody,
I finally found a MINT condition Open Road in my size:
http://cgi.ebay.de/Very-Nice-VINTAGE-Royal-Stetson-Hat_W0QQitemZ180070883582QQihZ008QQcategoryZ105399QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
Granted, it's "only" a "Royal" but it's such a nice unworn condition as you can see on the...
Just finished this one. Well, almost... the liner and the little bow tie is missing yet, but other than that it's done.
Vintage grosgrain ribbon, non dim. cut and a "shieldish" crease on the top.
Again, please apology the (missing) quality of the digicam.
Thanks to...
Hey gang,
I got the shoes I ordered from Magnoli for my wedding. And they're awesome. There's ONE tiny thing that could have been better and that is, that I can't pull the laces tight enough to make the shoes close all the way up, due to my high step. Otherwise the craftmanship and the...
Hey all,
one of my customers - a gentleman with several hundred hats :o - asked me to make an open crown hat for him, with the flying-V and everything else that makes a hat an Indy Fedora, except for the dim. cut on the brim. Open crown, as he likes to put in a personal crease - non Indy. So...
I made this one for a collegue of mine, who wanted something non-Indy :?
I need to sew in the liner and the little sweatband bow later today and than he can have it tomorrow.
Let me know your honest opinion please:
Regards,
Marc
@Joseph: I don't want to be the nay-sayer around here, but I believe that some of you statements in your original post aren't quite right...
That is just a little far out in my book. Granted if you compare a mass produced vintage hat (and they WERE mass produced, just check Debbie...
I know, I know: my digicam is a piece of crap and it makes crappy pictures... it's a fact.
Anyhow, I wanted to share the news on the project that has kept me busy during the last seven months and I can finally announce, that I have gotton to the point where I have sourced down the finest...
Hey all,
today I received a... let's call it "safety copy" from The Maltese Falcon from a Bogart fan here in Germany, that I met through my work at the office.
It was a video cd in opposite to a DVD, but nonetheless the quality of the picture is superb.
I really enjoyed the movie...
Greetings!
I know a couple of you have books about vintage hats and how they're made etc.
Would you recommend some of them, please? I'd like to learn a little more on the subject than the 'needle test'.
Also, do they still produce these books (would be easier for me to get them here in...
I always thought that most of the current offerings of eau de cologne and after shave smell far to sweet and / or "soapy" and have therefore over years used the German brand "Tabak original" that has been produced for at least 50 years.
But now I made a discovery and even got it as a gift...
