A question for Johnyphi or anyone else who can answer this...

In perusing the hats you will be offering I noticed that many of them have high rounded crowns and seem to be unshaped. Is this the way they came back in the day so that the purchaser could chose the hight and style of crown/ bash and pinched or no, etc.?

My understanding is yes. They came open crowned to be bashed to the buyer's wishes.

sweet! so if I wanted a soft crown with a 1930's style center bash and pinched front that could be done...? I would just want to look for a hat with a wider band. n'est pas?

Those hats can be shaped with steam, water, or depending on the felt stiffness 'dry' creased. It really isn't that hard to put a decent looking crease,or bash, in an open crown hat and I actually like to get my hats open crown and fix them to my style. You will have great fun with it I imagine
