Aero Board Racer: Length?

A question for the group: is the Aero Board Racer worn with a little more length than the average motorcycle jacket? I ask because there’s a lot more leather material extending down from where the zippers start.

I’d like to hear from you... how would YOU wear it?

Thank you.

It seems to me that it’s a functional design. Start the zipper higher so the hem of the coat splays when you sit on a bike as opposed to pushing up into your chin which is what my unbroken in Vanson does.

Yep. This effectively replaces the need for a two way zip. Height/torso of the wearer determines the length, it's not a set length across the size range.
Very similar to vintage Brooks/Buco/Bates design. Others used a two way zip to accomplish the same effect.

So does that mean the BR can be worn with a little more length compared to a motorcycle jacket whose zipper starts at the base? (Meaning, as long as the zipper is not pressed against the thighs while seated.)

Yes, the zipper basicaly reaches your belt line, and the jacket itself reaches down lower.

My J-100 is a good 2 or 3" longer in the front than the ret of my jackets.

From the Aero website on the Board Racer:

"... the front zipper stops short at the bottom so as not to pucker the jacket while riding..."

So yes. My BR (that I just received yesterday) does not push up when sitting down, because the length is able to fold up and out of the way when sitting down, due to the lack of the zipper being there. This allows you to have a longer jacket, without the need for a double zipper. It works well.

I know I am repeating what others have said, but I wanted to add my .02 since I now am a BR owner. :)

It seems the configuration allows the jacket to be longer, but you guys don’t find that the fit looks weird if it goes down farther past your belt line?

Thanks for the feedback... and pics, if you have them!

You can spec the length short or long just as you would any jacket.

My jacket length is typically 24 inches, ending *slightly* below the belt buckle. Do you believe that this means I can get away with a BR at 26 inches, which will end at or slightly lower than the opening of my jeans pocket?

Photos of current jacket lengths on you required!! I don't think I could give you a good answer otherwise...and ultimately my opinion isn't worth much!

This isn't an Aero (Diamond Dave J-100), but it is pretty much the same design and i don't think the length looks weird.
The bottom of the zipper reaches the top of my belt buckle, when i sit down both sides spread and nothing rides up. IMO they are a model that should be a bit long.
If it didn't have the sweatiest lining in the world it would be a very comfortable jacket.

The front is 24.5" and the back is 27", i am 6'2".

These two current jackets are 24 inches. The Board Racer will be two inches lower at 26.

I would just tell them that you want the zipper of your Board Raer to finish at the same point as the zipper on your other jackets and let them figure it out. They have all three patterns, it's easy for them to do!
Numbers don't tell all the story, patterns do.

Great jackets! I'm thinking you'd be OK at 26" but I'd do as Carlos suggested as well. Just to be sure. You don't want it to end up sports jacket/blazer length.

I found this photo on TFL, but forgive me for not knowing its owner. According to the numbers alone, this is how the jacket at 26-inch length would look on me, at longest. Not too blazer jacket-like?

I'm worried by the fact that i can recognise this man just by looking at his body...
Sloan1874

This length looks good to my eyes, slightly longer than the previous ones posted here, but that's how i like them.
