Aero Cafe Racer vs Board Racer Size

Do both the CR and BR flare slightly out at the bottom of the jacket? It appears that it's most prominent when the jacket is unzipped. If so is the flare about equal on both jackets? Thanks.

The Aero Cafe' Racer and the Aero Board Racer are both very straight...with little to no flare at the bottom of the jacket. If you're looking to wear the jacket open quite often, you'll be happiest with the Board Racer!

Wait, but the zipper on BR stops a good few inches above the bottom hem, right? That would perhaps make the jacket look like it's got a flare.

One would think that, but, when worn, the Board Racer is exceptionally straight fitting...

I suspect the shoulder measurement is the critical factor with a Board Racer pattern, making a fit jacket all the more relevant. Thie is particularly illustrated by @pawineguy's earlier post #10 illustrating that the shoulder measurement of the size 44 Board Racer is still smaller even when sizing up from a size 42 Sheene/Cafe Racer pattern:

42 Sheene (Cafe Racer) = 23.5" pit to pit and 19.5" shoulder
44 Board Racer = 23.5" pit to pit and 18.75" shoulder

@pawineguy has probably given us more raw information regarding sizing of Aero jackets than any other single Lounge member.;)

Sorry that I am late to the party but as Fanch has noted and others, including Carrie, have confirmed, there's no flare at the bottom of either jacket. The Board Racer, because there is some material after the zipper, may appear to flare but the pattern itself is very straight. Those who have a big drop from shoulders to waist will fit the CR well, straighter torsos will be a more natural fit for the BR.

I've just tried two fit jackets from Aero. The first was a Cafe Racer with gussetted shoulders. The second was a Board Racer w/o gussetted shoulders. Both jackets were size 38.

Below are pics of both fits. They are both too long, but the difference in the chest and shoulders size is apparent.

Cafe Racer w/ shoulder gussets...

Below is the Board Racer. Again size 38 but w/o shoulder gussets.

I think the chest and shoulder sizing difference is significant enough to go down at least one size in a Board Racer.

FYI.. I'm 5-5, 137 lb., measure 38 inches at chest and wear a 38S sportcoat.

Really? One size smaller and i will not be able to move. Two size down i will be buried in the jacket after death by suffocation.

Sorry Insomnia, I was actually responding to Lord Lala's fit photos. Seems somehow posts got switched around or moved. His photos are now showing up in a post after I made my comments. Strange

Yes, I did post them prior (yesterday I think) but I had some trouble with some of the pictures so I ended up deleting the post after approx 10-15 minutes.

Not to hijack the thread, but I am leaning towards the BR...Dark Seal Vicenza w/ shoulder gussets and a spread collar. It has been recommended by knowledgable personages to shorten 2 inches.

Souunds like a BR Sheene, nice.
I'd also recommend flipping the back configuration so that you have an upper yoke instead of the lower kidney panel FWIW.
