I have been a long-time believer that there isn't a meal created anywhere that doesn't taste better on a picnic blanket, underneath a shade tree, beside a lazy river...

My fantasy picnic baskets are these:

Picanick Baskets by Yogie Bear and Little Boo-Boo Bear

An organized picnic with friends is a delightful time. It has been ages since I have been on a good picnic!

Nice baskets, I think LL Bean had some baskets too.

I love the idea of...

The wicker hamper strapped to the back of the open topped sportscar, hood down, beautiful woman with the wind in her hair or a wee Grace Kelly type scarf over her head, racing around hairpin bends in the Yorkshire Dales!! bliss.

Now what delights would you have in the hamper?

You've got the spirit, Paddy!

Hadley's suggestion of cold chicken and champagne sounds about right... I also love a good selection of salads (tomatoes, basil, and mozarella; broccoli, cauliflower, bacon, and cheese; Helen's famous shrimp salad with eggs, cheese, and mayo!) a loaf of crisp french bread, fresh fruit!

MAN, it's only 6:30 and already I'm starvin'!

I forgot to point out...

That gorgeous woman...well...she's driving!! Nothing as drop dead beautiful as a lady taking that wee sportscar around those bends with the biggest smile on her windswept face :)

In the hamper: I'm totally sold on going on a picnic with Hadley!! that sounds great. (you've done this before haven't you!! ;) )

But what about...the strawberries and whipped cream? Maybe a bottle of Pimm's No.1 Cup (just so British!!)

I love old English rough cut baked honey roast ham that I've cooked the night before, soaked in cider and glazed in honey and mustard. Mmmmmm, with some old country French bread it's delicious!!

Yes of course!!!!!!!!!!! Strawberries and cream :D . How silly of me, how did I forget that??? So... the hamper will have in it the following: cold chicken, a selection of nice salads, crisp French bread, a few sweets and/or cheeses and .....Champagne! :D Does that sound good?

There is only one little change in the program that I'd suggest, can we race around hairpin bends in the Riviera instead??? You know, like Cary Grant and Grace Kelly? :D

Don't forget the coconut cake! It's a little fussy, but beside a cool blue lake, it's a perfect summer picnic treat:)
And for those who don't drink a fizzy combination of Raspberry juice and Soda, veeeerrry refreshing.:D

Oh wow, I wish the snow would melt........

It's gotta be Grace in the driving seat now!

I'd forgotten just HOW GORGEOUS Grace Kelly was. She's just got to come to the pic nic!! (if you could only turn back time!).

Turn back time...?

Paddy, I say this with great affection and respect: YOU DOPE!

You've got three absolute DOLLS just pining to join you in that convertible: Mojito, Hadley H, and CanadaDoll... Now the fact that they live on different CONTINENTS from you should not deter. ;)

The REAL PADDY has been uncovered then...

I do try Fred...honest...just hard sometimes being a wee DOPEY Paddy-man...;)

However...The fringe benefits are the picnics & dances with Snow White!
