Great idea! I would also swap the buttons for leather/football buttons.

1930-40's leather jacket with 27 inches sleeves... very good for my long arms!
This time with straight yoke, which is in Central Europe a bit less frequent then the typical scallops.
"FELWA" was a high quality leather garment maker reknown among aviators.
The name means "Feine Lederwaren" (fine leatherwear).

My research has yielded the information that FELWA (which was located in Augsburg, Bavaria) was founded by Wilhelm Weimersheimer, who as a jew had to emigrate around 1940.
A letter dating to 1941 from a Swiss bank mentions that the FELWA Leather and Sportswear Company was now in Swiss ownership.
Swiss business registers from 1942 had the seat of FELWA at St.Gallen, Switzerland. FELWA closed down during the 70's.

It is a very light and smooth leather, very unlike the ultra-heavy and stiff bullhides usually used for German leatherwear.
The ZIPP zippers are pre-1942. I replaced the damaged RIES front puller with a ZIPP one matching the pockets.

Another Long German Leather Coat

Just got this from a seller in Germany. Man these are heavy coats. Any idea how old this might be? The leather is nice and thick and heavy. Its the typical dark-green-almost-black. The Tag reads made in Mannheim since 1890. I was lucky to get one in the equivalent of a size 38 US. I usually see these in sizes 42+

I see quite a few German coats made by Hafa Leder-kleidung for sale which translates as Hafa Leather Clothing, and there were a couple of mentions of them further up this thread. But I can’t find any information on the company. I assume it’s long defunct so does anyone know anything of its history? Most of the Hafa coats on eBay are described as WW11 of course but look 1950s to me.

Many years ago, like about 35, I had one of those long leather trench coats some may refer to as a 'Herr Flick' coat due to the character in the sitcom Allo Allo. I bought it from Aero's old shop in Battersea and though there were a few stitch holes, there was a label that told me it was German.
A friend pointed out in those pre internet days that the maker was a noted leather tailor and it turned out this item was probably a motorcycle outriders or a mounted(horse) parade coat, probably SS due to the missing cuff title.
unfortunately I did not keep it for long as it proved to impractical, not to say a little conspicuous looking like I was trying to emulate a German despatch rider and sold it on, probably for around £25 quid.
Fun though.
