The homburg nation had sunk to page 7. That will not do.
Peschel, let's say homburg for beginners, in black. Size 58 (or 7 1/4 American), brim at 5,7cm and crown 10,5cm at the center dent. Peschel knew how to do a finish on a hat like nobody's business. The hand of this felt is just fabulous. And the hat has a nice shape and sits on that fine line somewhere between a fedora with a rolled brim and a homburg. All in all cool enough to bring it along. Liner is still stitched in, so I'm guessing late fifties, early sixties maybe.

Well, things come to you sometimes when you expect them the least.

I went to buy a different hat and then there was this Tonak Homburg laying next to the other hat, so I grabbed the two ( this is now a full blown out-of-control hoarding habit) and now I have an Homburg too. I am not sure whether I will wear it as-is , I saw someone above whom had been spreading the crease to a pronounce tear drop and lowering the profile of the crown at the back. There were comments to the enhanced wearability of the hat. I wonder what the general consensus is ? (If there is one).

Anyway, It would have been nice if the hat wasn’t the traditional black ( I love the Melé color above!) but even in black it has its charms. I understand that Tonak still makes this model but this one has to have some age I judging from a price tag that was probably left there from the time of Guilders it had costed Hfl. 115 and these days the price is a little bit higher but in €.

There are no other tags other than the size label (60). The felt feels very nice indeed , no idea of the composition but their site says that this model (still in production) is 100% fur felt but gives nothing away as to which fur has gone in this.

Nice find, Milandro. Most likely rabbit felt and age-wise I'd say late seventies or early eighties, judging by the liner and the way the brim edge is done. You can wear a hat shaped any way you want of course. Homburgs can be worn formal with just a center dent (no side pinches). The more you shape it the less formal it gets. When you change the crown shape to teardrop or diamond or anything except a center dent it's no longer a homburg in my view.

:) thanks Steur, I thought as much and that's why I stayed away from any modification ( the hat came to me with a pinched , center folded very little ovally shaped, crown) and I’d be inclined to leave it this way. Of course there are no rules to one’s taste and who knows, perhaps one day I would find more use for it but for the time being I will keep it this way. I have too many hats (I suppose this isn’t rare over here) and only so much time to wear them.

Tonak sells this hat both with or without a pinched crown

Nice find, Milandro. To pinch or not to pinch is always the question with Homburgs. I usually find that the particularly Homburg lets you know how it looks best. Your Tonak looks like its a "to pinch" one.
I agree with Stefan that it is more than likely rabbit fur, and that as soon as you alter a Homburg with more than just pinches, then you lose the Homburg look. Hope you find occasions to wear it, it deserves to be worn.

Interesting that they just list it as a "luxury felt hat" and not as a "homburg". You can't have too many hats, but you can have too little storage space:)

Felt is not as soft as other vintage ones I own but very malleable. Unfortunately the label got stuck on the wax paper. Brim at 6.5cm after curl and crown at 12cm at pinch. US dimensions and style ;)

Best,
Panos

I love the color and dimensions on that Adam. Very nice!

If it were not so blasted hot here in Texas still (we just set a record for number of 90F+ days in September), I'd wear my black homie more. I have to try to keep my place in the Nation!

That is indeed a beauty, Panos. I recently was in the race for a similar one, but forgot to bid:oops:

2" Brim (to the curl)
5-3/4" Crown (open)
1-3/4" Ribbon
4.7oz Weight
It does have some blue tones to it, though not as pronounced as what was shown in the seller's pics. Slightly disappointed by this but still am happy with my first St. Regis. It's easier to notice the blue tones when compared with a couple true grey homburgs in my collection:

Still a nice looking homburg, Jonathan. As are the others. I find this classic colour combination on a homburg irresistable.

Nice catch, Jonathan. I think we're often "slightly disappointed" by our buys if truth be known. Our expectations exceed reality. However, once we get to know the hat and make it ours as opposed to the previous owners, then the true nature of the hat opens up for us and we see it in a new light.
Three super looking Homburgs you have there btw.
