I got a new laptop, and have had fun with it. It has wireless..so I can use it many places.
However, I goofed up my desktop. I couldn't get the Norton Anti Virus to reinstall and it was frustrating. I was asked to keep "inserting disk 1" when I already had the CD installed. Nothing worked. Then like an idot, I began to tweak stuff found in so many subdirectories. Don't do that!

I finally went to SYMATEC and spent a bit of time on their FAQ propblem pages, and found my solution!! Do you know that when you install a program, windows tracks and has a place to show the progress? So if you uninstall, cancel, or get interrupted, there is a "file" that thinks you may or may not be at a step in the process.

I used a FIX from Micorsoft that allows you to remove any trace that you installed a program. It doesn' t remove the program, just the info of the installation. It allowed me to delete NORTON ANTIVIRUS from the "log". I then was able to install the program in a matter of minutes. Whew! Thanks!

My point? I was so angry, I was going to format the stupid drive and start over, thinking somehow the whole thing was corrupted. WRONG!! I removed the problem, and now it is fine. SO, please look on help and support pages..there are tons of solutions for you!

BTW, the program is called the Microsoft Installation Remover. msicuu2.exe
