In the last couple of years I put together a couple of British reenactment outfits that I have worn whilst at appropriate events collecting for charity. Since buying an A2 I thought I would start to put together a USAAF impression as well so have picked up the right pattern whistle and some authentic sunglasses. Last night i pulled the pin and bought an original US Officer's visor cap as well. Size remains a little bit of a mystery as it is a 7'ish, but the condition looks great and the price seemed reasonable. Cap badge needs a clean but otherwise I would say it looks really good. Shirt, trousers, rank and branch badges and boots still required.

Thanks Kampkatz. I am thinking of getting the M1937 shirt and trousers as they seem more readily available and there is more versatility to do an infanteer impression as well. Not decided on footwear as yet as I could go for officer style private purchase shoes or boots.

Finally took delivery of the hat and the condition isn't quite as good as first thought but still not in bad shape. All leathers are supple and in good order, the cover does have a few moth holes but small and not too obvious. The lining looks like something sticky was poured in there at some time giving it an orangey colouring and stiffness compared to the yellow satin of the clean bits. As for size I would say a Euro 57, UK 7. I am a 58 so can get away with wearing it. The cap badge is marked on the rear bottom as shown in the photo. Inside behind the band I found two pink tickets as pictured. I would love to know what A.Z.B. means. Clearly the original owner was enjoying cocktails somewhere 68 years and four days ago!
