Regarding hot weather and Irvins...

LOVE this pic Spitfire! I saw a similar photo of AVG Flying Tiger pilots in shorts and leather flight jackets standing in front of their P-40's. Flying at altitude in a hot weather climate still means cold air and wind and warrants some kind of heavy flight kit. Navy flyers in the Pacific wore their fur-collar M-422a's in their Dauntless dive bombers at medium/low altitude to ward off the cold.
