After many months of admiring all of the hats presented in the lounge; I have finally taken the plunged to explore a new brand of hat to me! Many of you have these hats and wear them regularly. For many years I was aware of Akubra as a manufacturer of hats, but I never had a full appreciation of their entire line. It just not a popular brand in my region. After a tip from Bob I found the right website.

I can see that now...will...will...will go ahead and bash them! Haha! I know I would not be able to refrain. I would be on those hats and then seeing how they look on my Husband, (or myself if I purchased for me).

For some reason, I have thought the Dobbs has some look to it that the Stetson's "hommie" just do not have. Not sure why, but that is my opinion. I have still been hunting for one in a 7 1/2 LO that is like new for my Husband and in a gray or even a silverbelly. So far nothing in all my searching within reason. Found one but the seller wanted $399.00 so I declined. Love that one you have.

Janyška "Praga", 58cm, Crown Open 5 1/2 inches, Brim 2 inches, NOS condition with some mothing, probably late 1930s early 1940s. The felt has more of a Chamois finish in a great blue color (will look better in natural light). Also has an interesting shortened sweatband (also color coordinated) and no liner so wears light. I really like this one!

That blue color is to DIE for! looks so perfect and even more so with you wearing it and then the shirt as well. All of you hats are just gems. Sadly you hat size is not going to work for anyone in my household. If that hat would fit a 7 1/2 I'd attempt to purchase it from you. You can tell that blue is a one of a kind color as no the same as other blue hats we see around at all. It appears to be almost a dark royal blue instead of the duller navy blue you see on most hat bodies.

1950s Bandera 5X Western
I finally got to work on the unusual Bandera western I bought last week. I bought the hat for a project, but when it arrived, it was too nice to make many changes. As I mentioned before, this hat is very different than other Bandera hats I’ve owned. The crown is very tall and soft (not unusual), but the brim is a raw edge, slightly upturned at the edge, and very thick and stiff (almost like double thick). I brushed and cleaned the hat and then steamed the crown open from the old RCA crease. I replaced the old crease with a center dent & front pinch bash, and then added a thin braided leather band. With the slightly upturned raw brim edge and new crease, it now has more a 1920s western look, especially with the braided leather band added.

As received.

New crease.
