I say give Oxyclean a go. It's good stuff. Let it soak for a couple of days.

Thanks for the Oxyclean tip! It worked great on the Knox. My Disney is another story, all the ink from the crest disappeared. Oh well it's a learning process!

Cool!

Great hat! How much?

Just picked up my new straw from Graham at Optimo. I really love this hat and the weather finally got warm today in Chicago.

And a Stetson win from eBay. I don't think it had ever been worn. It is in perfect shape without a mark on it inside or out. The crown is not as high as my customs, so it was riding uncomfortably on top of my head. I brought it with me to Optimo and had the bash reshaped so that it fits perfectly.

I'll try to get some pictures of them actually on my head.

Cheers,

Reblocked Panama

I sent this hat to Art Fawcett for a reblock:

and he returned it to me looking like this:

It's not really a new hat, but it sure looks like a different one to me.

The ribbon is a really dark burgandy color though you really can't tell it too well from these pictures. Art raised the crown up, shortened the brim about a quarter inch, replaced the band so the hat would fit better and replaced the ribbon for me. Needless to say, I'm very pleased with Art's work. I wonder if he ever has a dissatified client?

That's a big improvement, Bobc. Reverse taper! Diamond bash! Superb ribbon and bow!

What's not to like?

Thanks, IC. I couldn't agree more.

I love it, thunderw. The hats looks great. The ribbon and bow look great. Art was very kind to take this hat. I have not (yet) bought a hat from him, but this hat came from Panama Bob so Art agreed to reblock it for me.

The new (ie, old) summer styles chez Fletch. None over $100!

Vintage Brooks Bros. boater, 7 5/8. $90 at eBay. Sweat marked "Master Mode - Shower Proof."

Great hats!! I wish the boater would come back into use more... in my opinion, it is the best looking summer style hat. Alas, I don't have the courage to pull one off.

There are several styles which look great on the shelf: boater, campaign, derby, pith helmet. As you said, "Alas..." They seem to look better on the shelf than they do on my head. :) :D

boaters are tricky. There are so many styles of them. I know I look good in some styles and not in others, and until it's actually on your head, it's impossible to know.

If you look closely at the liner you can see where the Disney crest used to be. Oxyclean really works well! lol [huh] :eusa_doh:

2 months ago I had one hat.

A straw hat I picked up on a Disney cruise. Up 'til then I never wore ANY.

Now look what you've done!
