Bought myself a Gary White hat on Ebay. Pristine, and the most lovely soft felt you can imagine. A deep indigo that becomes a charcoal grey from more than three feet away.
Anyway, it was mistakenly advertised as an Optimo (the consignment store changed that after re-examining it) and mistakenly advertised as 7 5/8. It was more like a 7 3/4. Needed to be reblocked and shrunk a size.
The store, Emmanuel's Classy Closet in Evanstown, Illinois, offered a refund (kind of him), but the hat is so nice I decided to spend some more and resize.
So I called Gary White. He's so busy nowadays he couldn't get to it before sometime in January. I guess it's the season. Plus he wanted $150.
So, off to Optimo. I'm hoping the felt is not SO soft that it cannot be properly re-blocked. We shall see.
