taper?

Hello fellow lid lovers. I've seen it mentioned before in various threads, and I've looked to find an answer to my question so I wouldn't bother you with something that may have been already addressed, but found nothing satisfactory. Perhaps I didn't look diligently enough. In any event: What is taper as it relates to a hat? What part of the hat does it pertain to? What's it look like? Is it good, bad or merely a question of taste?

It's neither good nor bad. Just personal taste. Depends on the hat,style,and how you feel it looks on you. Fixation with taper is a "gateway" obsession..it leads to all sorts of strange and dangerous hat activities...it can only end in tears...(lol)
