Finished up my first complete conversion/rebuild finally. Wanted to see if the glaring mistakes I see when I look at it are as apparent to everybody else. I started out with a nice but rather stodgy looking Royal Deluxe St. Regis.

At this point you Homburg fans might want avert your eyes. Nice hat, but not something I would wear. disassembled, cleaned, reblocked and stretched just a little, then put back together something like this;

Latest conversion of a very nice western style vintage Stetson that I resized and added ribbon to. Ops sticker of 10.00. Has a very narrow overwelt that I've not seen before and adds to the crispness of the brim finish. Ribbon is root beer .

Thank you David .
Was a 7 1/4 and now fits 1/2. Felt is very much like a light weight and very easily resized without any distortion as there was ample crown height and brim length . Reminded me of a vita felt quality hat.

I got a 4X Stetson cowboy/ranch hat on clearance for $5.00 from the Hatco outlet which had a small tear in the felt around the brim. I've never trimmed a brim nor installed a ribbon but I thought this would be a fun Saturday project. I found some brown grosgrain ribbon which by miracle happen to be in my wife's craft bin. One side had stitching on it but turned over it's plain. I thought the stitching looked cool so I made the bow with a little strip of it. I also used a hot glue gun for the ribbon. I cut the brim with craft scissors which made the edge bumpy so I hit it with a sander to smooth it out. There is also a bit of glue on the felt just below the bow which I can probably just pull off. Anyway I'm not trying to make a masterpiece but all in all I think it turned out good even though I'm sure some of you are gasping at the glue gun and scissors method. lol
