The fedoras on 'The Valley of Light'

did anyone catch 'The Valley of Light' last night?
It had some nice looking fedoras scattered throughout the film.
The character of Hoke Moore looked as if he was wearing a vintage
Open Road style hat. The deputy also had a O R style hat.
I wonder if vintage fedoras were used?

I am impressed that you admit to watching it. ;)

Now, come on, your wife made you watch it, right? ;)

I'm just giving you a hard time. I would have watched it if "Rome" wasn't on. I'll look at any movie with a vintage theme. How was it? The hats did look very nice, from the commercial.

Nope... I made my wife watch it.
I told her this will be a good hat movie, and it was.
I had read the book way back and knew it 'could' be a nice film. It was.

The fedoras, trucks, and scenes of the beautiful outdoors were great. But, I believe it was filmed in Oregon instead of somewhere in the south.
The only thing was the actors trying to speak as if they were from the south.
The hats in this were alot better than the ones in say, The Black Dahila.

WEEGEE, he {Prosky}was great as Hoke. His hat looked almost like a Stratoliner, maybe because of the greyish color.

Yes i thought so. I liked that the hats had high crowns (in relation to current factory hats) and no taper. Stratoliner. As far as vintage goes...if there is a place in Albany, New York (there is) with thousands of vintage suits and hundreds of hats (not for sale) for movie and stage rentals there must be many more throught the lands.

I see why this film had so many threads started up about it.

It's sappy, yes, but it's GOOD sap. :) And I thought the costumes, hats, backgrounds, etc., we very VERY well done. There were a lot of real vintage lids everywhere! The one thing that was out of place (I think) was a reference to "born again christians). Isn't that a more modern term?

When this comes up again - WATCH IT.
